Just typing finding a new job makes my heart rate speed up and my hands start to shake. I don't know what i will do when i have to sit in an interview. Help me think right and get past this cause being scared sure isn't paying my bills.

I loathe and despise job searching with a fury passion like no other. It is so depressing. I can’t help with the process but I finally found something that seems to work for me during the interviews.... it’s a bit of a downer but here we go...

Go in assuming you won’t get it.

Without my expectations running high and my mind spinning a million different ways about the interview, what the job would be like and if it would help me I just won’t get it no matter what I say or do but this will be good practice for future interviews. So I can just go in and feel only uncomfortable instead of panicky.

I can’t say it works for everyone but it calmed me right the hell down the last few interviews I’ve been in.

Hello, I used to chair job interview panels, so I know exactly how it feels and, yes, 99% of people are nervous or very nervous. Sometimes, it is the most confident people who are the most nervous, The interviewers will take this into account. They don't want to see you fail. The best way to overcome your worry, is to prepare for an interview thoroughly. Read the job description fully, research the company, be clear about why you want to work for that company, be clear about the skills you have for that job and have some real life examples in mind, which show you have those skills. Best tip I can give is to sit down with your partner or a friend and get them to do a 'mock' interview, so you get comfortable with answering questions. The more you do this, the better you will get. Take care,

Thank you so much. I just get so worked up at times. And i always think the worse outcome, as well as dramatizes everything. I worry everyday about tomorrow, next week, next year.....i worry so much that it affects my everyday living. People say stop worrying i wish it was that easy. However Thank you so much for the tips and advice. I am slowly s starting to calm down. I haven't had symptoms of mental illness in years that i almost forgot what they was until the turn of events that has happened in the past few months. Got back into therpy immediately and taking ot one day at time the best i can.

Hiya, yes, I'm a worrier too, so I know that it's not helpful when people say, 'stop worrying'. I do think though that with job interviews, thorough preparation and practice will increase your confidence. Interviews are not something we do everyday, so that's why people get stressed about them. The more you practice something, the more familiar it becomes. In an interview it's ok to tell them the panel that you're nervous. Make sure you have a glass of water on hand in case your mouth goes dry, take your time giving answers, and pause to give yourself time to breathe and think. Keep eye contact with the person asking the questions and don't forget to smile now and then. Honestly, with a bit of practice you will see a dramatic improvement. Take care,
