Hi I think you have to make a firm decision here - decide once and for all if you are going to cancel it (you can if you need to) or whether you are going come hell or high water. If you decide you are going then think what can help you to stay calmer and deal with your fear. Make some plans ie do you think your doctor would give you a mild sedative to help? Ring up the airline and tell them you are a nervous passenger as they will detail a stewardess to keep a special eye on you. You will not be the only one who has ever felt like this you know.

Decide what you can do then try and forget about it until nearer the time. Every time you feel the panic tell yourself your plans will work fine. x

First off happy wedding congratulations!!!

I myself hate to fly but love to travel, so I understand your pre flight anxiety. I also understand wanting to go and wanting to cancel all at the same time. I have been there. I can tell you how disappointed in yourself you will be if you cancel. I did that once and it still erks me. Keep thinking of how much fun you are going to have. It will be worth it!!

Here is what helps me... maybe something will work for you.

1.) I make myself a busy bag. Luckily my brain is only able to do one thing at a time... either have a panic attack or focus on a project. So I take crochet and my iPad with noise canceling earphones. I watch a movie and crochet, which forces me to be attentive to both.

2.) I bring a very chewy snack. I eat it while watching my iPad as slow as possible. Again, just trying to keep myself busy.

3.) I use trigger points in my hands and arms when I start to feel the anxiety build while telling myself “I am ok” and “I got this”!

If it’s just the flying part that you don’t like, keep telling yourself how safe it is... because that’s a fact. 150,000 some odd flights a day. If it’s a claustrophobia thing, some people say covering your eyes and listening to music really helps. You can also ask your doctor for a little help. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

I hope something helps and you have a terrific honeymoon!!!

I have very bad anxiety and I used to fly a lot. I did take Dramamine at first. Then I had my Dr prescribe Xanax. I also flew very early morning or late night so I could sleep. You’re probably going to be so excited though from the wedding!! Just have fun and congratulations 🎊🎉🍾

Oh pleeez don't let the anxiety win here. You can tell that anxiety to take a back seat because you're going to fully enjoy your honeymoon! How dare that anxiety try and stop you!!

Also take a look at David Carbonelle on YouTube... He's amazing at teaching how to tame that useless anxiety. Have a great trip🏖🏝🌅🌈

Thank you so much guys. Some great tips!! Your right if I cancel I would regret it so much. It's the taking off then feeling claustrophobic. I've had a bad attack on one before and had to have oxygen very embarrassing as I was fine after and enjoyed the flight. I know I can do this and I've got to do this.xx

Since you have already had this previous experience, you know what the "worst case panic scenario" of flying looks like for you. Now you can use this knowledge to your advantage. You experienced it and got through it before and even if you have to receive oxygen again this time, you know you will be just fine afterward!

Since you mention that you are already experiencing the panic in anticipating what is to come, I thought you might want to take a look at this list of resources on tips for overcoming the fear of flying: bit.ly/2Ms5ShW I always appreciate reading what has been helpful for others.

You have plenty of other things to think about leading up to your honeymoon. Congrats and enjoy!
