Hi everyone. I'm in recovery with 10 weeks of clean time. I'm trying hard to change my ways of thinking and behaviours but sometimes my CBT gets the best of me. I'm hoping I can find some help in this group as I'm from a small town and have limited resources.

Hey
Hi Cfarrell!
Great job with 10 weeks! It’s truly a journey! Most people I know in recovery say that NA or AA meetings are essential to their recovery along with having a sponsor that they’re accountable to and call everyday. I think that’s pretty standard. Working the 12 steps with a sponsor is so helpful with life-living in general and helps you change the way you see and think about things.
There are alternatives to a 12-step program but I don’t know anything about them, honestly! Working with a fellow alcoholic/addict is invaluable, I believe. They know exactly what you’re going through as they have walked down that road before you. You can’t successfully pull the wool over their eyes, and I imagine that’s what you need!
Welcome to this forum! You will find friendly people here with lots of knowledge about depression/anxiety and other issues. Glad you’re here!
