10pm here but I know its going to be a long sleepless night. My thoughts are also spinning faster than my fan. When or if I do sleep, morning comes way to quick. The torment repeats itself continuously each and every day. You are not alone, in being a prisoner of your own thoughts. I hope you can find some type of peace so you can rejuvenate your mind and soul. But just remember that you are not alone.

Thank you good to know

Just wish I had a brain switch as this affects my entire day as my brain didn't get the rest it needed

Hi Weaty!

I wish I had an answer! It’s 10:30pm here, I’m not even remotely sleepy and I have to get up at 4:30am. I feel a lot of pressure surrounding sleep anymore...almost like I’m being naughty for not sleeping! Sounds crazy, I know! It’s been elusive for me since last October when my sister 1st went on Hospice care. I just can’t shake it! I hope you get some sleep (haha)!!

My head runs with terrible thoughts that basically scare me to the point I can't turn off the light which disrupts my sleep and messes up my day. I'll probably fall asleep in 15mins only to wake up in an about an hour and a half

in reply to Weaty

I’m so sorry! I haven’t had any terrible thoughts since I’ve been on the mend. Have you been working to change those thoughts to positive ones? It’s possible! 🙂

I am trying, it's harder than I thought it would be.

in reply to Weaty

Yes! It is hard! Practice really helps!

Weaty, that sounds exactly like my mornings! I wake way too early and try to force myself back to sleep just to be jolted awake over and over by horribly negative thoughts and panic. It’s almost 8pm here and this is my most calm part of day. I wish I could feel this balanced all day. I’m certainly working hard on it.

I have an hour before I have to get out of bed. Having coffee and will probably need a redbull later.

I'm starting to think it's my meds but I'll have to check with my gp

Definitely check with your gp. Anxiety is a beast to deal with and you certainly don’t need any more challenges due to medication side effects. Try to have a good day and I hope sleep will come peacefully to you once your day is done.

Sleep well when you eventually do

Wellbutrin is a stimulant...and some others I've heard disrupt sleeping. I have never slept well my whole life. Even after therapy and meds...I still don't sleep well. I had to deal with childhood trauma....and always had one foot on the floor and one eye open to stay safe as a kid...it's haunted me all my life. Now it's also compounded because of my age. I wish there was an easy fix....and one that doesn't knock you out so you can't wake up when you need to in the morning. Who ever invents that switch will be a bazillionaire.......

Thanks for sharing that info on Wellbutrin. I didn't know that.

As for that "switch", maybe we can work on that together. :) xx

I'm in too, I'd love a switch and need one every now and then

Actually Weaty, there is a switch they we already have within us. Not enough people realize how powerful and yet easy attainable that switch is. It's Deep Breathing. Simple, Always with us and is Free and not habit forming. What could be better. Most think it's too simple an answer but it works.

With daily training in the proper way to "belly breathe" we can overcome our anxious thoughts and symptoms. Have you ever watched a baby sleep, deep belly breathing, muscles relaxed and peacefully sound asleep.

In order to assure a restful night (of course this is providing you don't have a stimulating cuppa before sleep) Lie in bed and start the deep inhaling in, hold for a few seconds and then slowly exhale. It will not only clear your mind but relax your body. If done properly, you cannot be deep breathing and feel anxious at the same time..

After much practice you will be aware when you start to shallow breathe and immediately go into deep breathing. I use this while driving as well, it's safe and efficient. No more, feeling anxious if at a stop light or worse yet a railroad crossing.

Deepbreathe your way through a Big Box store. All the over stimulation to our brain will be reduced instantly. Waiting in line?? Breathe, just Breathe. Anxiety will take a back seat to this method. I guarantee you.

When you do this before sleeping and upon awakening, it sets your mind to a more calmer state which is then the last thing your brain will remember before dozing off. YouTube has many great short videos on Meditation/Mindfulness and DeepBreathing. Well worth checking out. xx

Thank you Agora1 I'll try it soon. Almost 8pm here and have a huge meeting in the morning. I'll check out YouTube as well, funny enough no one has suggested that to me!

You've got to be kidding. I feel like sometimes I'm a broken record always

recommending it. Of course, it took me years to finally find the tool that works.

Here's 2 videos to get you started tonight:

"Sympathetic Breathing/Meditation" by the Quiet Mind Cafe

"Sinking & Slowing Breathing Meditation" by the Quiet Mind Café.

Many more on YouTube. It's about finding what works best for you.

For me, it's the soothing voices of Quiet Mind Café, Honest Guys, Jason Stephenson

and on and on. After a while, within a moment of hearing their voices, your body

will sink into deep relaxation.

Weaty, I’m so sorry you’re going through that! I always thought I was part vampire because I would stay awake all night. I’m slowly getting to sleep earlier each night.

What helps me is I wear a sleep mask (helps keep my eyes closed) and I listen to music or a documentary. Focusing on listening helps to keep my mind from racing. It’s only 10:20 pm here so I’ll probably be awake a few more hours.

I hope you don’t have a long day and good luck!

Lol glad to know there are other vampires out there. Thank you. I hope you sleep well too.

Most definitely going to get a mask this weekend
