I don’t have an answer for your question, but I have a question of my own for you. Is that a Ford Mustang in your picture?

in reply to

Sure looks like a Mustang! I had one once and I loved it! Beautiful car with a ragtop, about 16 yrs ago.

My mom had a 65 mustang as her first car. That was back in 68. She told me she paid 350.00. She said that was a lot of money back then for a used car. Did yours have a V8? I know they stopped making them with a v8 for awhile.

in reply to

No, it was a V-6, 5-speed, midnight blue beauty...sigh...

in reply to

What happened to it?

in reply to

It seemed like my boys grew 12 inches 6 months after I just showed up at home with it without even consulting my husband! He was really mad about that one! Then, the next year, I got involved with carpooling the kids to school and I just had to trade it in for an SUV! It was a sad day 😔 but not really a practical car when you have kids. This would be a perfect time in my life to have a fun, fast, little car, but now, I can’t afford car payments! Oh well! It was fun while it lasted 😁

Hi Lindsey!

I have heard others speak of feeling detached, numb or depressed. Usually I hear this from those with depression and borderline personality disorder. That’s all I know. Wishing you the best!

So, since you're asking if something is wrong, meaning you have some insight already, and you feel like you're not completely in touch with reality, which it sounds like you are sensing, I would suggest you reach out for psychological counseling. I'm not talking psych meds, but therapy.

Im going with the language you're using and making assumptions based on that. Please forgive me and I sincerely apologise if I misunderstood.

Depersonalizationn, dissociating, are usually the result of trauma, and that does need to be worked with a very understanding professional. Someone who understands trauma. You might also enjoy the ptsd forums on health unlocked.

In the meantime perhaps try to practice some simple grounding techniques like naming colors, counting lights in a room, spending time with a pet or animals (even online like YouTube).

If you're under tremendous stress right now then you clearly need new tools to cope. You'll get that in therapy, but not overnight. But in the right therapeutic situation, progress can come faster than you think.

In the meantime, try not to obcess about how wierd you feel. You might be living inside of your head which is not a good place to be. It's just an old habitual coping mechanism from trauma. You'll get used to living in reality, then you'll start living the life that's uniquely your own and you won't want to go back in your head. You'll be happy!!

My condition make me question everything because I have been hurt in the past. I in a way can be very cynical and I try and understand the negative instead of the positive.

We are what life has made us, this can causing feelings of distrust. We need to move on, that hopefully will allow us to find friendships that are not questionable.

I don't know if I have what you are describing but I do feel uncomfortable in my own skin.

HI Lindsey,

I know quite a bit about this. One of my loved ones has DP/DR associated with anxiety and panic and I'd suggest the following resources:

Paul David's book- At last a life (Anxiety and panic free)

Paul david's website (can't remember name right now)

Swamy G's website: A coach called life

Hugo Rock's anxiety website

Claire weekes' audio. The "spiritual enlightenment" in the title is completely misleading. This is about Anxiety, Panic, DP/DR and how to recover : youtube.com/watch?v=REOdAWC...

DP/DR is very, very common with anxiety and panic. It can be constant, come and go, be only associated with panic, can last awhile, last a short time, be "severe" or "mild" etc. It doesn't matter if it's any of those things- it's all the same thing, and recovery is within reach :)

Not what you're looking for?
