I am headed to an intensive outpatient group this morning I started on Monday. After the Monday group I was a ball of anxiety that lasted for 2 days. My mind gets on the hamster wheel and it won't stop. I hope I can keep that from happening today. I have too much to do and can't afford to have my mind sabatouge me.

AZ1970, intensive therapy is hard work on the mind. when you get home try Meditation and Deep Breathing in calming both your mind and your body.

Here are 3 meditations on YouTube that I use to quiet my mind.

"Mindfullness-3min Meditation" by the Honest Guys

"Sympathetic Breathing Meditation" by the Quiet Mind Cafe

"Guided Meditation Blissful Inner Peace" by the Honest Guys

May one of these slow down that hamster wheel for a while. x

Can be used as often as you need a respite. Not harmful and it's Free. :) xx

Agora1, I use guided meditation often. Thank you for the reminder. Going back to the basics of what I know works is a good answer.

Proud of you for doing the hard work! Maybe your mind is on overdrive because you're digging up the old stuff to deal with it. Hopefully that's temporary and you can go back to your regular speed hamster wheel once you've put in the work and gone through this intensive program.

Well, it's great to hear you are tackling this. Anxiety affects so many people, but thankfully much has been discovered to treat and overcome it. I remember the first time I worked out really hard at the gym. My muscles were sore for days...to the point where I couldn't even move. Over time though, the more I went to the gym, the quicker the recovery was. And the better my health became. Maybe think about these anxiety sessions like that. Your mind is exercising in ways it never has. But, it might be part of the process for eventually overcoming (or at least beginning to control) your anxiety. Over time, the more you work it out, the less anxious you might become. In the end, you might actually be able to control your anxiety so it will not longer control you.

Do you find intensive outpatient groups to be helpful? I have never been to one before.
