I have been on mirt for a little over a month. I have seen some improvement with depression but the anxiety is still bad. My Dr prescribed a second med for that which I just started yesterday. The one thing I noticed when bn I started on mirt was that I had very little side effects other than being very tired while my body adjusted so I take it at night before bed

Hi Betty,

I take mirtazipine. It's been a lifesaver for me. It doesn't solve everything, but has really improved my sleep, alertness and cognitive symptoms as well as making my mood a bit better. Find it keeps/gets me well enough to do the things I need to recover and makes anxiety much less intense. I have been on it for about 5 years and take 45mg when unwelll and 30 for maintenance dose. Only side effect I have experienced is weight gain.

I also had bad experiences with SSRIs - cold sweats, night terrors and increased anxiety.

Hope it goes well whatever you decide. Keep looking for a medication or medications that work for you. It helps a lot.

Hi Betty!

I was on Remeron for a couple of months this year and my Psychiatrist took me off of it due to weight gain. She says that if given in higher doses that it doesn’t make you gain weight. So she started me back on it for severe depression and I only took it for 2 nights. I believe the Carvedilol I take for my blood pressure interacted with it in a higher dose. I almost passed out and my lips were drained of all color. It scared me! I somehow made my way to the next room and got my blood pressure machine. My BP was 100/60, which is very low for me, and my heart rate was less than 50. Bad night! Be careful if you take a beta blocker! Most people have a positive experience with the drug. I hope you’re having a good evening!

Hi Betty, I was bloated with Mirtazapine. Weight gain, which then made me more depressed. I'm taking Lexapro now.
