What is Persistent Depressive Disorder?

Persistent Depressive Disorder: Also known as dysthymia, it is said to happen when a person suffers from major depressive disorder for a minimum period of two years. However, there are times, when the symptoms are mild, but the condition continues for at least a period of two years.

Had low grade depression for approx 9 years now. Just didnt realise I had it till recently! Just thought it was the way I am and accepted this low quality of life and during high anxiety periods I didnt think of the depression until a week ago I developed severe depression for several days that I found myself researching online in desperation.
