i’m very scared/anxious ! i keep getting emails from a fake email that keeps asking if i’m kat.4224 (which i am) , then it asks if we can talk that he is my friend William . 😳 i don’t know who it is at all ! i don’t know what to do 😫

i’ve been scammed before last year , then the guy tried flirting with me . so i blocked him from my phone and i’m almost concerned it’s him again or maybe it’s someone else ?

It is probably just someone joking around with you.

Try to stay calm, it is probably nothing to worry about.

So that is good, you are not alone then.

Maybe just stay out of your e mail if it is possible.

I know it is hard, but try not to put that much thought in it. From the content of the e-mails, it doesnt sound like you should be worried.

I have had this happen to me lately, just ignore it and delete it -- it is someone that wants you to make a donation or wants to be accepted to your facebook -- I would do neither! I fell into this last week and then deleted the friendship off my page. Don't add friends you don't know. There has been a group that copies pictures off your facebook page and then requests your friends friendship. I had this happen to me last year. I was close friends with this person and she was already on my facebook page and the conversation when I messaged her and stated, her response was my other facebook page went down. She had this girls bio and background, etc. and knew what profession she was in and her passion. She had me convinced until she told me to call this 800 number and I called her direct to ask what was going on! She knew nothing about it! You can google your name on facebook and see if your picture is up there in another facebook account! So many scams out you have to be careful!

Okay, from what you are saying doesn’t seem like the e-mails are threatening.

I know it can be scary, Ive had similiar situation before via text messages on my phone. Turned out to be just a prank. So maybe the same thing is happening to you as well.

It's mostly likely to be a phishing scam.

Criminals buy and sell lists of contact details (email addresses, phone numbers, text numbers etc).

When they buy a list they contact everyone on it to try whatever scam they're trying to get rich quick from. They may try multiple times by having a bit of software that generates new email addresses (because they know people may block an address After the first time it's used).

They can be quite convincing because it sounds like they may know you if they use your username and choose a common first name if they're trying to pretend to be your friend.

If you mark it as junk some software filters will learn to recognise the content as spam and automatically put any more like it in the junk folder.

Make a ceremony of it when you junk it - sing "Another one bites the dust" to yourself as you do it and know you're winning x
