"Comes and Goes in waves" by Greg Laswell is a great song for those who suffer with depression. I feel understood and encouraged when I listen to it. I hope it can be a comfort to you as it has been to me. Have a listen and let me know what you think.

A Song for Depression
Thank you erin! I love listening to comforting music. I am new to this community and looking forward to receiving and providing support. I hope you are feeling well today. Best wishes!
Hi Iris, welcome! Thankfully I am having a pretty good day so far. Actually I've had a number of good days this week and I'm always so grateful when that happens. My work for the day is done, it's 70° and sunny here so I am heading out for a hike.
I'm glad you found this community, and look forward to connecting more.
Hi erin, thank you! Happy to hear about your good days this week! I understand the gratitude for that. 70 degrees and sunny sounds lovely as well as a hike to enjoy that. happy exploring!
It's 33 and snowing here so I'm hunkering in.
Two other songs along the same tone..."Keep your head up" by Andy Grammer (even though sometimes when people say to me 'Keep your head up' -- depending on my mood I can take it as being a simplistic, dismissive recommendation--as if it were just that easy--if you know what I mean). A really powerful song that I love and is definitely a go to is "Rise Up" by Andra Day. I think a playlist is forming
Look forward to connecting more as well.
I love "rise up"... such a great song. I am a singer-songwriter myself and have written a number of depression inspired songs! (Even one called rise up ). After so many years I just got really tired of writing sad songs. A number of them have helped others when I used to Record/perform/share my music but some of them are so sad that as beautiful as they are, I'm not sure they would help anybody.
So for now I'm not doing much music but I do play keyboard at my church and am headed to band practice in a bit. It helps me to stay involved, serve where I can, and use the gift in some capacity
Have a good night.
ohhhhh, wow, what a gift it sounds like you have. I understand though as I'm a writer and when I'm persistently sad I find it difficult to write because I get tired of writing about sadness.
Happy playing keyboard at your church is an outlet and brings you joy. I hear you regarding staying involved. I need to work on getting back into activities that bring me joy. Happy playing....
And, thanks, good night wishes back at ya..
Thanks for posting about the song, Erin; I enjoyed it. "The experts at the fall" is a really good line. And thanks for your song suggestions, too, Iris. It's such a boon to have great music to uplift and motivate. The song I turn to when I need a boost is "Get Better" by Frank Turner:

Another good song that seems to be more in keeping with overcoming depression is "Rut" by The Killers:

I'd love to hear from others on the forum what songs bring you hope. Be well.
Thank you for this song
