I'm new here. Has anyone had success in the CBT treatment? Is this something you can just start to do or does the therapist have to suggest it? I am working on trying to get a therapist and seeing if that might work for me as I am not into taking any type of medication for my anxiety. I just need a change, I have done well maintaining it the best I can on my own however over the last year it has gotten increasingly worse to the point that I am thinking I might need some additional help now. My doctor suggested that treatment but didnt have a therapist to refer me to for it. I noticed some online that you can do but wasnt sure if it will work like that or if better in person working on it. Thanks for any input.

Yeah, some of the online sites are really good and I would suggest that if you are sufficiently motivated, then it is something you can do online and by yourself and would be beneficial. Obviously if you are able to find a therapist then it would be easier in many ways to maintain focus; so it all depends on your level of motivation. If you're motivated enough to do it by yourself then as I say, that could work.

It's basically a programme of looking at the way you think about things and then working on changing some of your perception of things in order to relieve your anxiety symptoms.
