I’ve been thinking a lot lately about disability. All the jobs I have had in the past I’ve had to quit after a few months because of the physical illnesses I get from working them. I can’t seem to function without my medications, and even with them I’ve had panic attacks and gone into a catatonic state. Does anyone have tips on how to start the paperwork for disability? Thank you very much. All help is welcome.

Not sure where you live, but I went through the whole process here in the state of NY through the law offices of Kenneth Hiller and they made the process so easy for me. You can expect to get denied. The hardest part for me was waiting years for my hearing. Make sure you have plenty of medical documentation to support your claims (for me, I have been in and out of treatment since I was a young teen). You’ll want to make sure you are in, and stay in treatment all the while .. which you should do anyways to be proactive in helping yourself - but you will need this documentation to support what you are claiming. Being on disability sucks, but it allows you the time to seek help and also not have to dread not getting a paycheck because you’ve quit your millionth job because of these crappy issues.

I am in Colorado for a while. I’m on a lease for 15 months. Does it cost to get the law office to help you with this? I’m very low on funds at the moment.

Most disability attorneys don’t make you pay a dime unless you win your case. They will be upfront about what you will owe if you win your case, and that will come right out of your backpay that’s owed to you (however long you wait to be approved, social Security will owe you for that). The only thing that comes out of pocket no matter what is paying for your medical records the attorneys request. And that doesn’t (at least for me) have to be paid until after your case is all said and done and I know for me my attorneys gave me so much time to pay and it wasn’t a lot. I think it was like $200 or so.

Thank you so much. This is really helpful. I’ve been stressing about this and cost and it’s made it hard to sleep. Thank you.
