Depressed parent

I'm at home alone with two needy kids, and I'm so depressed that taking care of them seems like such a burden. The depression manifests itself through irritability. Can anyone relate?

Try and get them occupied doing something, that you can just oversee but don’t have to get involved in. Take this time to have a cup of tea/coffee, have a sit down and try and relax. Easier said than done I know, but give it a go.

Thanks Clare. I'll try that.

Hi I am a Sahm to 3 kids and I know what you are feeling. My oldest is almost 9 and I have been a sahm since he was born. I went through major depression just before I had my third child who is 4 months now so it really hasn't been that long. Anyways I used to take my older two out a lot. Our library has many great programs for the kids and free of charge. Also we used to make our own play doh and bake cookies and build forts. Anything to make the time go by faster. I don't know how old your kids are but you can even play spa where the kids put lotion on your feet or back. My kids loved it! I know it's hard being home with needy kids day in and day out. Also make time for your self if you can. Very important ! Hope that helps!!
