Is it Effexor? Is it extended release? If it is Effexor XR, it can cause a bit of anxiety in the beginning or when the dose is increased. I had been taking it before bed; when my dose was changed in July I started taking it in the morning. I think that you just need to get used to it. But you can take Benadryl before bed and see if that helps.

I’ve used melatonin and it worked well. My advise would be to purchase the lowest dose...if it doesn’t do the trick then take two. Trial and error, just like anything else 😄

I'm not sure i do this too but I'm not on that medication.

I take Effexor XR. 75mg I was on 150mg. I accidentally didn’t take it for a week and I’ve never felt so bad and I’ve been through a lot! I asked my doctor to help me wean off. That scared me. I’m not trying to alarm you. I’ve been on it for years. It works very good! It’s just very important that you do not stop suddenly. I take mine in the morning when I get up. Well afternoon but apples and oranges. I took Seroquel once and was told it caused weight gain. So now I take Klonopin at night. I don’t know anything for sure about it. I also take Trazadone and Meloxicam. I’ve had issues since way before Effexor. A horse would be knocked out with less than me. It may have nothing to do with Effexor. XR means extended release. It releases slowly over 24 hours so it keeps you stabile by taking it once a day. My problem was from another Med I was taking. I sleep better now I just choose to sleep at odd hours. 4am to noon. Keep a note of any new symptoms you have and discuss with your doctor. taking it in morning will help. It does take a while to build up in your system though You may not realize the true benefits of the Effexor until a couple months. Then you will be more used to it and things will even out therefore sleep will happen. Unless you quit cold turkey. That is not something you need to be concerned with though. You can wean off properly if you ever decide you don’t need it. I hope this helps. Try to give it some time before making any true decisions on it. I think when taking any medication you should always notify your doctor before taking any meds, supplements or even vitamins. I just found out I was taking stuff that had a reaction when taken together. 2 doctors and miscommunication. So discuss the Melatonin with your doctor. It should be fine but I don’t trust it unless I have talked to someone. You could even call the pharmacy if necessary. I hope you find your peace.
