Your brain is like a car.

When my anxiety was at it's worst I couldn't stop my mind from going to all these negative thoughts. I thought I was dying and I couldn't relax but through counseling I learned your brain is like a car and when it starts going faster you have to learn to slow it down and maybe even put it in park and turn it off. I know that can be easier said than done but with practice you can control your thoughts. To everyone who is struggling with anxiety and depression don't give up things will get better.

What a great analogy! I am currently in therapy. My therapist told me to take the day in 15 minutes intervals, instead of trying to focus on the entire day at once. Seems like a simple thing, but it really helped me. So, when I get out of bed, I focus only on what needs done in the next 15-30 minutes. When those tasks are done, I switch my mind to the next thing. I am not always successful, but when I am, it really helps.

That is awesome. When I was having anxiety really bad I couldn't even go to the store so I took baby steps. I started by driving to the store and sit in the parking lot and slowly but surely could eventually go in. Keep up the good work.
