Hi Katt, sorry to hear you're having panic attacks, and for so long! I myself have had them for 3 years (not quite as long) but I do understand! My best coping technique, is 10 minutes of meditation a day! (I HATED meditation and thought it was rubbish!) But it calms and works for me. Second coping technique would be to go on a 20 minute brisk walk (as in fast walking) with some really pumped up songs! Third and probably the most important technique I use, if you feel a panic attack coming on, close your eyes, take a deep breath and say to yourself, "you have 10 seconds to come over me (happen) and if you don't happen in 10 seconds you won't come over me. Then count back from 10. And the panic attack won't happen. You trick your mind and take control of it! I have used thelse tips for 2 years and haven't had one since! Also counselling really does help!! And psychiatrists! Even if you feel like they won't help, they really honestly do!! 😊
I have anxiety and panic attacks as well. I was diagnosed when I was around 10 and am 25 now. The past few years I have really tried to take control of my anxiety/panic/depression. Here are some things that I have found to be helpful: medication, talk therapy, using cognitive behavioral and dialectal behavioral therapy techniques, yoga and meditation, researching and reading books about my mental illness. I also went through a partial hospitalization program and intensive outpatient program earlier this year which was very helpful. Feel free to message me to talk!
