Just been diagnosed with this. What a horror story!

I ended up in emergency last Tuesday morning at 4 am.

Your body loses salt and the symptoms are unreal.

You are supposed to be between 135 and 145. Mine dropped to 122. I got some awful symptoms. They gave me two days of salt via a drip.

I came home yesterday but today I feel worse. I’m not allowed any water at all. Other things have to be counted like yoghurt, tea, soft drink, etc.

This is terrifying!

I am sorry for your bad experience. However, I think that maybe you have posted in the wrong group. This one is for people with AMN.

Why do you think that? Adrenal insufficiency is one of the common phenotypes of AMN. And electrolyte problems, namely sodium are a hallmark of this.

I was in the hospital for the same exact thing. You’ve got to take salt with everything, like a horse. Salt Lick!!

Thank you so much. Such an awful experience. I think it must be rare.

get tested and go see a endocrinologist, they can give you a med to help keep up your sodium levels. Keep an eye on it.

I’m not allowed any water but I’m having a banana for potassium and I have magnesium tablets. What else could I add? I dropped watermelon as thought it possibly had tipped my water over and caused this. I have to keep my liquids under two litres, so have my tea, one orange squeezed and a little ginger beer to get me through the night. I have to count anything that converts to liquid like jelly etc.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

what do you mean, allowed? Fuck “them “. Take some supplements add salt to everything drink with electrolytes and you’ll be fine. Don’t worry about it just happened to me twice, I’m speaking from fucking experience, not a guess or from what somebody in a white coat says.

That’s six months ago. Only the start of my response! Now, I don’t need to be so careful. I have water overnight especially and mostly tea during the day but do have some water if can’t get tea. I’m back on watermelon. Now, I have salt to my heart’s content. I’m aware and monitoring. You have to be your own advocate as you inferred.

Fantastic. I’m glad to hear that you’ve made some progress, especially with the watermelon.😁

I take a couple of these every day, just to try to keep my sodium at a higher, regular level

You were entirely correct about Hyponatremia and my earlier (6 months ago) comment was wrong. My mistake, and I apologise to MWZ3 and bluejadedwho and others for this.

Not sure how I got this wrong. As another irony, I also suffered from low salt on a blood test about a year or two ago and the docs sent me off for various tests. I was not unwell - it was just a blood reading. After all was completed there was nothing to be done except, as some have noted here - to make sure I was getting enough salt.

Once again, apologies to all.
