Men 32, high vlfca levels

Hello guys, I am male 32. I was diagnosed with high vlfca levels. I have metabolic syndrome and was diagnosed recently with high blood sugars, triglycerides and cholesterol. Not sure if diabetes in any way elevate vlfca levels. And currently I think I don’t have any symptoms ( not that I am aware of). Any insight into what I can expect and what I can do to delay symptoms as much as possible and have better future life style. I am planning to do more exercise, hot yoga ( I have done it in the past). Any suggestions are really appreciated. I live in USA

Hi there Gurajala!

Greetings from Spain.

If you don't have any symptoms... my advice should be "Don't worry at all", the more we are worried, the worst are the symptoms. In my case I try to be as much active as I can, working, travelling and learning every day.

Of course I know I'm not an athlete... but everyday more I'm learning the way I walk is not my fault and it's something I don't have to be ashamed.

I hope you continue without symptoms for many years! Who knows? Maybe you'll never have them.

Best wishes

Hi! My husband is almost 36 and has AMN and Addisons. We are in the US as well (Washington state). He has mild symptoms, but does see a progression of the disease from year to year. This disease is so tricky because everyone’s progress is different. Thus, I preface this by saying that this is just our experience and we are in no way experts. We feel like staying healthy and active is really the best thing you can do. So it sounds like you are already on the right track. My husband has found exercise to be very helpful although challenging. Variety and balance seem to be good for him- yoga, stretching, swimming, cardio, strength, core work, and just simple long walks. Since you are into yoga, you might want to explore yin yoga as well as it really stretches you out. Side note- cold weather and alcohol are huge symptom triggers for my husband. I hope this helps. Wishing you well!

Thank you for your response AKSeattle. I have heard of Yin-Yoga, I will try that. I need to start learning Swimming. Just got back my results for adrenal insufficiency and everything looks good on that front.
