I am a 60 year old symptomatic female ALD carrier. I have had what has been termed voice tremors for 5 years. When I am in severe pain or upset I lose my voice completely. Is this happening to anyone?

Voice tremors

Hello!I haven't had actual tremors while speaking, but do experience days that I'm not able to raise my voice above a whisper. Using Zoom for family and business calls has brought this to the forefront. It definitely makes conversing difficult!

My mother who had the ALD gene had voice tremors from her mid 70s onwards with particular difficulty speaking on the phone. This may have been dysarthia which is a known problem for MS which has similarities. I don't think this has been documented as a symptom of ALD/AMN but there are still many unknowns. Sue
Thank you . I have reached out to my neurologist and he says now theyare thinking hand/arm /voice tremors may be a form of Parkinson's rather than ALD. Another neurologist says get an MRI. Bottom line they don't know. There are other women I have met that have this difficulty and trying to see if I can find more men or women here.
