Hello Folks,

When I was seeing my Physiotherapist today for my shoulder I mentioned something about walkers and she told me of a walker her Father had recently gotten and likes. It is called the Life Glider and from what she told me and looking at the website, mylifeglider.com, it looks interesting and I was wondering if anyone here has tried them.

It sounds like they are expensive, but being as it keeps the user more upright and leaves a person free to use their hands it leads me to believe it would be a useful addition to my life.

Be well and have a great evening!

I use a Ustep2 walker. Not cheap either but there are a couple of different options. They are made for people with neurological disorders. It is sturdy and has a seat to use when fatigued. ustep.com. Is the site. I ordered directly from the company by phone and they gave a 20% discount. If you decide on one ask for it when you call.

Thank you for posting the link to the LifeGlider. This device really caught my eye. I love the idea of it freeing the hands and walking upright.

(I wish there was a way to bookmark posts for one's personal use.)

Me too! Can you buy them in the UK and any idea how much they cost?

Hi, I looked up the life glider to see if they are available in uk, and they are! As you say expensive but probably worth it. May I ask what your seeing your physio for exactly. I have tendinitis in my right shoulder. I think it’s related to, using crutches and a walker. Either that or it’s exacerbated by using them. Not having physio, just using massage and manipulation with pain relief.

Hi Hillary,

There is a knot between my shoulder blade and my spine that is causing pain over the top of my shoulder and down to my elbow and also up my neck and over the top of my head. My physiotherapist does "dry needling", which is she sticks needles into either the tendons or the muscles that are tense and gets a reaction from them which is supposed to then result in them relaxing. It has worked very well on my other shoulder, which is my cane use shoulder, as well as my elbows. I believe most of the problems with my shoulders and with my elbows is related to cane and walker use, which is a big reason why when she spoke of the "hands free" walker I was very interested! I fall regularly so that probably contributes to the problems. My physiotherapist is very much a hands on therapist and she feels around to find the tension and then does the needling and she is very talented at finding what needs to be addressed. I also see my massage therapist regularly and chiropractor occasionally.

It sounds like with your tendonitis you should find a good physiotherapist that can address the problem and maybe help. My physiotherapist has had training in acupuncture as part of her dry needling training.

Sorry for the long winded reply!

All the best.

Be well and have a great day!

Thanks for your response, mine is between my shoulder and spine. All your other symptoms, apart from the neck and head, are exactly the same as mine. I have wondered if acupuncture would help as I have had this previously, I will be looking to book an appointment.

Thank goodness for this site.

Regards
