I said I was gonna do a post about my quad. But wheelchair first!
So I have attached a photo of my totally customised wheelchair, which suits my needs perfectly. At the base its a Quickie Argon 2 (2300€). Which in the world of wheelchairs is average good. Its not so heavy once you remove the wheels. Due to living in the countryside I have mega upgraded rear wheels - suspended Loopwheels (£800) with sticky Ribgrips (125€) on oversized 37mm tyres (50€). I highly recommend all of these, but they aren;t essential. I also attach a snap-on/snap-off Freewheel (£400) to the front to lift up my front casters which now run on anodised orange aluminum forks as the plastic ones couldnt hack it. The Freewheel essentially turns you into a 3 wheeled mountain bike.
In total my chair is worth over 4000€ but you obviously don;t need all the upgrades I have.

I took out a health insurance policy especially for wheelchairs. It costs me 60€ a month, but after 6 months they will buy me a top of the range chair (every 3 years if I want). After 6 months of this I can drop it down to the cheapest one (15€ month) until I want/need the next thing and it goes back up to 60€.
I don;t NEED a new chair now, but getting a 6000€ handmade bespoke chair totally custom to my measurements for 360€ is nice
I think they let you change every 3 years to allow for changes in your body. My new chair will be 28cm squared smaller than the one in the photo. I don;t know/think I lost weight or got smaller, or I was badly measured for my first chair. This time I went to the best of the best to get my chair, you need to find a good dealer.
Have you had any problems with the air in your freewheel tyres?Got mine a week ago but having difficulties now. Ordered a mechanical pump to see if this works.
