I would like to know what antidepressants the group has used with the best results. I know we all react differently to meds I’m just curious.

About 10 years ago, I tried Wellbutrin. My neurologist felt that I seemed depressed but I didn’t. It did make me feel any different but the side effects of feeling out of it, sexual issues, and weight gain were not worth it

If you can, I’d go the natural route first.

I’ve tried just about everything out there over the years, natural and prescribed...unfortunately the side effects always seem to have outweighed any slight benefits I might have seen.

On the natural side, maybe Rhodiola (Arctic Root) helped some for energy and maybe some mood? SAM-E?

Methyl-Folate + other B vitamins helped somewhat but made my migraines much worse.

Intense exercise and martial arts helped me the most..which I cannot do now ☹️

But anything is worth a try..just keep a log of how you feel and any effects or side effects so that you remember as you trial and error things.

Feel better my friend!

Be sure, before starting any antidepressant that you have someone who can help monitor you, frequently. They need to watch for side effects you may not see or feel. Suicidal feelings or other detrimental effects need to be monitored by a third party who knows you.

I have taken Plenty of SSRI's. Always for short periods (couple of months). The best one I ever took (for elevating mood) was Prozac. I loved that.

Then I moved abroad and couldn't get it. Last year, during a bad patch, I went to a doctor and was prescribed Paxil. OK, but completely deadened me. Very flat, all of my emotions. Then I switched to Zoloft (only because I read Mike Tyson took it), that was better, felt more alive.

The effects when you stop, they call it "Discontinuation syndrome", hmm, that'll be withdrawal symptoms, then? Luckily, I didn't have to endure.

Still, if I needed them, I'd be on them if I had to..

Be well, Seifert_09 .

Forgot to mention Cymbalta.

For all of the episodes I've had in my life, antidepressants have worked well. Hardly a cure, but I only wish our other symptoms could be so easily managed.

I'm considering going back on them after my latest lesion, only because I am going out of my mind waiting for my latest MRI.
