I just take multivitamins and minerals. A past blood test I had came up with a deficiency in vitamin D. Since taking this supplement my levels are now fine.
I have looked at vitamin B12 deficiency, and would presume that I was tested for that too. The symptoms are similar, but that could be said of many other illnesses.
My blood tests came back 100% for everything, but I believe that on account of my disease, higher than usual doses of vitamins could be be beneficial. Could be.
Obviously, I'm not imagining in the slightest that just because I have some of the symptoms that also happen to coincide with a B12 deficiency, then I can cure myself.
But I am prepared to believe that if I take whatever vitamins/minerals that can optimise my spinal health, indeed my CNS, then it has to be doing me some good.
The 4-AP-3-MeOH certainly is, though that ain't no nutrient.
Vitamin B12 was the first thing I was advised to take (by the consultant who was treating my son for ALD) been taking it now for 18 years. Don't know if it helps or not, but I'm not planning on stopping any time soon!
Before the Internet and the whole Nootropics thing.
I remember how he talked about how RDA doses of vitamins were meant to wade off diseases like scurvy, et al.
How with water soluble vitamins, your body would reach saturation point, no point taking any more, but we all have different requirements. And how your saturation point was way higher than the RDA.
What I remember most was how he described the drug-like effect of high doses of certain vitamins.
How in some countries, Vitamin C can only be purchased up to so high a dosage OTC, anything more is considered a prescription only drug dose.
Biotin now immediately springs to mind.
The recommendations are in the microgram range, yet I am taking 300 milligrams every day.
