Restless leg syndrome

I am now 64 and have had problems with rls since i was a young mother. At my "last physical at the VA i told them that my legs hurt so bad that I hadn't been able to sleep. I took hot showers, rubbed my legs with blue ice, bengay, the usual, which only helped for about an hour or so, ended up taking long walks at night and that im always exhausted. I was prescribed 1 mg Ropinerol and can't belueve how much better my overall health is. It starts working within 15 to 20 minutes and I now sleep all night without discomfort. would recommend contacting your MD and asking about Ropinerol.

I'm pleased that you have found a solution to your problem but can I just add a note of caution.

My Dad (not affected by AMN, I got it from my Mam) took Ropinerol for many years for his Parkinson's disease but he had to be weaned off it as it started to affect his mental health (he ended up badly depressed and confused).

Pleased to report he's fine now but like most drugs there are side effects, see link.

Thanks for the info. I'll do my due diligence. The more i read these posts, the more skeptical I am becoming about ropinerol.

Hi,

I saw a dr today and she recommended to drink 300ml a day of Tonic water and said that it contains Quinine and it will relax the muscles and stop the spasms, I just got some and I'll let you know tomorrow how I get on? Worth a try, anything is better than taking loads of pills!

All the best

Hi,

I tried the Tonic Water and I also tried Quinine Sulphate tablets but they did not work for me?

All the best
