vitamins and minerals

Hello you lovely people. My question is, do any of you take a multivitamin and mineral daily tablet. I am on Apixaban. When I’ve tried to research whether it’s ok to take with blood thinners all I find is Vitamin E is a bit dodgy with Warfarin. The one I want to take contains iron and I’m not sure if this is ok. I would be grateful to hear anyone else’s views and which make you take. Thank you in advance for any replies.

I don’t take a multi vitamin but do take some specific supplements for specific conditions but I would take professional advice. Know that supplements are not legislated so you won’t know how much active ingredient is in any tablet and Which testing showed some tablets had no active ingredient on testing so beware.

If you need a supplement why don’t you ask your doctor to prescribe as they will know your medical history or talk to your pharmacist.

I take a multivitamin and chose one that has no iodine in it. I didn’t actually know that iron can be a problem. I think I really should have a discussion with the pharmacist and that’s probably the best way forward for any of us.

I’ve taken Healthspan multivitamin and mineral for over 70s since I have been and continued to do so after my paroxysmal AF arrived around 5 - 6 years ago but I don’t take anticoagulants now as the Flecainide I take regularly keeps my heart in order very well and it even behaved well for a few days when I ran out of them! I’m 81.

The only thing the ADAS person told me was to avoid fish oil based Omega 3 supplements. (Obviously any nsaid painkillers such as aspirin, ibuprofen etc)

Yeah - go for it - no worries with Apixaban! (but I'm not medically trained, ask your pharmacist!)

Hi Florence.I.N.

You should know better. Food covering vitamins is natural and the right forard to do.

NO VITAMINS.

Only B12 Solgar Gold Top sublingual. As I am B12 deficient.

2 brazil nuts organic - selenium - boosts T3 thyroid health.

If you increase vits and minerals via natural way through FOOD etc your body eleinates excess. Otherwise toxcity is the risk.
