I've been seeing convincing ads about TENS pens for pain relief, along with a comment that it's not recommended if you've Afib. I can't take ibuprofen (trigger) and struggle to find pain relief (at the moment for shoulders). Has anyone tried TENS and found it caused no problems?
Thanks
Gary

I've used Tens for Sciatica....placed on lower back....and it certainly helped without promoting arrhythmias. I'm not sure about using it on shoulders though. I hope someone will post on here with their experience.
Thanks Jalia. Much appreciated. The thing I'm looking at getting is a TENS pen that seems to generate the current by repeatedly pressing a button. I wondered if this was perhaps a safer option? I'd never heard of TENS until recently when developing severely sore shoulders and upper arms.
Hi Desanthony, many thanks. The device I'm looking at getting isn't mains power but a TENS 'pen' that seems to generate the current by repeatedly pressing a button. I wondered if this was perhaps a safer option? I'd never heard of TENS until recently when developing severely sore shoulders and upper arms.
If you search my posts, you will see I did some tests using a TENS machine to try and control AF. The theory was that if you have Vagal AF you could use a TENS machine on your ears. The only external part of your body where your Vagus nerve travels to is the ears.
I have used a Tens machine for many years on my lower back. Make sure none of the leads are too near the heart. No problems at all. I also use ice, four or five times a day. It really numbs the pain.
