I am basically very pleased with the outcome. I no longer need to take Flecainide which bothered my gut with excessive (noisy, embarrassing) wind. I am 82 with other comorbidities: secondary adrenal insufficiency and scoliotic restrictive lung disease requiring O2, 24/7. Dr. Reddy, my surgeon at Mount Sinai, in NY pronounced it a success. We understand there's no guarantee for permanent curing of Afib.

Initially, I had a sore heart for a few weeks which manifested itself if I would overdo. I needed extra sleep. I did have ectopy for awhile which continuously abated over weeks.

I wore the Zio heart monitor for 1 week after the blanking period.. In 3 months another check and 3 months after that the last Zio monitor check. But now I am resuming my exercise program: stationary bike, treadmill, NuStep and Pilates performer. This is all done in small increments with my goal of 30min day.

My O2 sat has improved. Dr. Reddy said that because Afib makes the heart less efficient return to NSR has my heart is beating more efficiently.

If I ever had to do it again I wouldn't hesitate; it only took about 1 1/2 hours. I elected to stay overnight in hospital. My husband is 89 stayed with me.

Great news! Very glad it went so well for you! And that you’re back to your exercise routine. And good to hear that Mt Sinai is doing pulsed field procedures.

My surgeon, Dr Vivek Reddy, is actually a electrophysiology researcher. My local medical center just started doing the pulse field technique ; they sent me to Mount Sinai because they have much more experience.

Thanks. Good to know! His name was familiar and I realized I’d heard him speak at an afib conference. We’re in upstate NY, so NYC is an option for me.

They actually provided free transportation from NJ day of surgery and postop.

Wow! That’s terrific! Getting in and out of NYC with a car is certainly a pain. We usually take the train down, but wouldn’t want to take the train back after a procedure.

They use a private car service called “Lucky Car Service”. Adequate . This was only for day of surgery and immediate post op.

I usually hire a private car service for the other visits though. Because my husband is 89 going into New York is too stressful. I live about 40miles away. Where do you live?

We’re near Albany. So it’s Amtrak to the city. And as convenient as that is, that tracks are horrible between Albany and nyc. It’s painful. Smart to hire a car service!
