I am super excited, I had a follow up with my EP Dr. Here in Arkansas, they did tests including my pacemaker interrogation… Whooo Hooo, it showed NSR 99+%, less than 1% out, but NOT afib! Never give up, I wish I had followed Cleveland Clinic DR advice 4 years ago, following up with a 3rd ablation after the first 2 did not resolve the afib. Dr here advised meds if it would control it. Well control was up and down plus ER visits.
apparently the anterior wall and floor of the heart finally nailed it. I know it is not curable, but I have had 4 plus months of BLISS. Thank you God. Do not give up, go to the best Dr. And clinic!I am taking only flecainide 50 and 25 metoprolol twice a day plus warfarin. No cardizem—no extra metoprolol 👏

That's good news to hear, how wonderful for you to have had 4 months of bliss. I must admit I'm a little envious, but then after 3 ablations my AF isn't bad now anyway. Do you have lots of energy?
When will you stop taking the Flecainide and Metoprolol?
Yes… energy, it is like a high/miracle. I just wonder all this time, omg the devil was on the anterior wall and the floor of the heart. I visit with my Cleveland Clinic EP tomor… so we will see what he says about the meds? He will have my test results from here in Arkansas. I am just so happy, that long 8 months in afib was horrible. Just felt so bad, the drugs just wipe you out and still not satisfactory rate control.
Do you still take meds and how often do you have episodes? Are you a candidate for any future ablations?
Mine was a devil, when it happened it was stubborn hanging on. Just the dread/fear looming over your head.
I'm now in constant AF between a range of 60-90bpm, have also been told that I wont be offered any more ablations have had 3.. I take Metoprolol and Warfarin.
How do you feel? That is a good controlled HR. For some reason metoprolol does little for lowering my afib rate, cardizem does, but oh goodness, it kicks the seat of my pants. I just feel ill and my leg muscles ache so bad. Do you have any other type ablation option, like AV node that wld improve your health?
No, sadly no other options. I could go for the mini maze. Just wish I could afford to go to Japan and have it done, but it would wipe me out financially and I know that would make me miserable.
All in all I feel well, haven't done much walking lately. Bisoprolol suited me well apart from making my legs ache. It remains to be seen how I get on with Metoprolol.
What is your dosage? Your insurance will not pay for a mini maze? I am taking 25 mg ER every 12 hours. I used to take the regular metoprolol not extended release, I have done better with the ER and kept me more level. Also, on the question of Flecainide, I spoke with my EP Dr this morning from Cleveland and my directions are to slowly start back walking because My body is not conditioned. I go back to Cleveland in April for a 1 year follow up with more tests and discontinuing Flecainide and metoprolol will be discussed. Fingers crossed.
I live in the UK, so we don't pay for healthcare. Though we contributed to it while working, it used to be deducted from our wages automatically. There is only one person who I know does a mini maze in the UK and he is in the North and I live in the South. I take 12.5mg of Metoprolol twice daily. I take warfarin too. Jean
I have in the past before I had my pacemaker, now it tracks my heart rhythm. The information is stored in it and they access it. I hate to hear of your 187, I do understand the exhaustion, fear, dread, anxiety, and uncertainty that afib can bring. I am just happy and wish I had moved forward sooner with my EP DR in Cleveland. Wishing you only the best.
The Private H/Specialist who immediately put me on CCB Diltiazem carefully
assessed my history 2019 stroke with rapid and persistent AF, Day but at night avge 47 H/R.
We did some shuffling around to arrive at 120mg Diltriazem AM without food and 2.5mg Night. Making no difference to changing my low H/R at night. Dr said that the Diltiazem covers me 12 hours only. Now Day in the 60s.
I have lost weight 7kg.
I upped my B12 to 700.
Surgeon thyroidectomy due to Papillary Cancer says TSH 1.0-2.0.
I'm happy to hear your excellent results. My EP is at Cleveland Clinic and they're the best; I only wished I'd gone there first instead of a more local EP nearer my house for my first ablation. Well done!
