Well, I had a catheter Ablation in February and had a 7 day ECG last week to check how it went. I can say that gladly it was successful, done by Prof Richard Schilling and thanks very much for his skills and knowledge. Hoping to continue recovering in the months to come.
I had an insurance funded treatment which I’m very glad for, due to being still on the waiting list for NHS since before Christmas, was told a 3 month wait, well it is what it is.
For those who may be nervous of the procedure, I can say it was perfectly ok, I did have an unbelievably very sore throat, worst pain and discomfort but really it was OK. I know anatomy & Physiology which did make me very concerned, know too much 🙄

I AM SO PLEASED because when I saw the ECG paperwork it looked as though it hadn’t, but I’m way no expert on reading them, so, waited till the Prof told me 😀
I'm happy for you. I've never regretted mine. It hasn't stayed entirely away as it happens (returned for a bit after 19 months) but I think that was due to my thyroid needing an increase in medication. Even so, my QOL much improved and am off all regular heart meds with PiP strategy if needed.
The Prof said before I had it the percentage was about 85-90% 1st go and might need another. Hopefully it does continue to improve and last for as long as someone else’s on her who he’d done, 10 yrs 🙏🏼
I’ve a genetic liver disorder, Haemochromatois plus now T2 dire betes and they all play a part in over all problems 🤯
I understand your thyroid issues, we all have thyroid issues as we grow more mature 😜
No intent to rain on your parade. They key thing is improved QOL and we have to be aware (as you will be I'm sure) that other health issues can impact. I for instance had my vagus nerve cut at tye digestive end during abdominal surgery nearly 50 years ago. My EP thinks this is a player too. And, of course, it's a done deal.
Hi there, Good to hear your uplifting story, I have been waiting for mine since December, started ringing up regularly and received a call today to say it will be on the 2nd July, I am also under Professor Schilling - how was your recovery after the op? how many days were you off work, no exercise taking it easy for? Are you now off meds? Any other tips would be very welcome?
I’d read all sorts of stories about ppl doing whatever after very short period after the procedure 😳 As a trained complementary therapist of 25 years I studied anatomy & physiology, so I decided that was NOT going to compromise my recovery by being unwise. My husband insisted that I did NOTHING other than get up, eat, rest watching tv etc. I did this probably for 6 weeks afterwards. Then only light activity. I went to my Spa club where I usually swim for 20-30 minutes but swimming is an all round strenuous activity, so I’d gently swim, walk for a bit. I’m retired so don’t have to work. But you just do not want to compromise the procedure, and my insurance was paying a massive amount! We paid consultations etc.
over the last few months I generally felt normal but this can be a false sense of security and you can do things you shouldn’t 🙄as you don’t feel bad. I did get odd feelings which it seems were very sort episodes of AFand odd pain, breathlessness all just settling.
I understand everyone is different it’s just go sensible and take it easy, do not rush back to work or household duties 💗🙏🏼
Success stories are great! Thanks for sharing yours. It’s so important for all of us to stay positive (when it’s easy to do the opposite as things don’t always go smoothly).
Like you, I had an ablation(the second) in February. There were bumps along the way, including a CV and a bit of amiodarone (ugh!), but now almost 4 months later I’m steadily in NSR, have great test results, am off all drugs except Eliquis, and feeling terrifically like myself again. 🌝
