Well I saw my EP this morning as I am now 8 weeks post ablation and wasn’t looking forward to the meeting as I have just come out of 10 days of being in tachycardia so the out come is that I now have a heart monitor fitted for two weeks to see what’s happening to me. He did said that this can happen but he now thinks I have atrial flutter so depending on what the heart monitor picks up I am now looking at having another ablation which will be decided when I see him in March.Has this happened to any of you that you have gone from paroxysmal to atrial flutter ? I really don’t know if I want to have another ablation as I was quite poorly afterwords but I now feel that each day I am just waiting for it to play up again which isn’t good for your mental health.
post ablation update: Well I saw my EP... - Atrial Fibrillati...
post ablation update
Not that uncommon and do remember a flutter ablation is nothing compared to fib so dodn't worry on thst score.
Don't pre empt anything though. Atrial tachycardia is another likely cause which cardioversion will normally sort out.
Yes I had tachycardia for quite a few months but rarely exceeded 130-135 and I could cope with that, HR gradually decreased as I healed but took a while.
I also had AFl which was fixed with second ‘touch up’ ablation about 12 weeks following the first.
That worked.
had my 2nd ablation last September. Just told yesterday I have atypical atrial flutter, and need another ablation. Wish I’d stuck to medication in the 1st place - I’m thoroughly fed up!
hi - I’m 3 mths post ablation - had tachy around 2mths post, put on betas. Sent my head into turmoil but it did ease up & I stopped bb 3 wks ago. All calm presently. Hear it’s pretty usual post ablation? Hope yours settles. Took Jeans advice on this forum & stopped checking heartbeat & found focus elsewhere. Wasn’t easy as have v anxious response BUT it was attainable. Wish you good luck 🤞🏻 x
Hi it’s so annoying isn’t it I new that there was a chance that I could go in and out of Afib but since having it done in November I have only had three good weeks and I think the tachycardia is worse, the EP hasn’t said that it’s failed yet that’s why I now have a heart monitor on so he can see what’s going on as from my Kardia readings he isn’t sure if it’s atrial flutter or Afib episodes so I will just have to wait and see.
this is not uncommon I met a guy in the waiting room for my EP who had this happen - he had the ablation for the acquired flutter and it worked really well immediately with no problems.
Went from Afib to atypical flutter (on the left atria). So have had several rf ablations and one cryoballoon ablation plus four DCCVs meanwhile. Been on dronedrone, Amiodarone, flecainide, all with problems that the heart doc wanted me off them. Still on metoprolol but back in tachy. DCCV scheduled and hopeful. Keep trying to get back to nsr! But if you don’t get there, keep living your life as best you can and BREATHE (and stay anticoagulated).
