Bisoprolol and its side effects hit me harsh tried different doses kept getting ectopic beats and quads as well sometimes micro second blackouts went down from 5 mg to 2.5 then 1.25mg still there minus blackouts cardio then put me on verapamil 120mg mass palpitations after 4 days taken off these and put on 125 microgammes og digoxin heart rate not controll up to 178 bpm I was in a mess went back to doc who added 1.25 mg bisoprolol it has settled but ge6 the odd chest flutter and the occasional small bpm rush to about 138 bpm has any one else had problems like this

Love the typo!

Made me chuckle. I think they should rename the condition as that would be an apt swap.

Yes it's a very interesting condition but the answers are difficult to get hold of my jou is odd mostly me telling them what they need to try

Love your variation on our problem! Don’t think it was a typo but a clever observation!

Well, you could say I am having them, but I am suspecting it's the natural worsening of the atrial conduction problem rather than being caused by the bisoprolol. In hope, though, I've just reduced my dose from 2.5mg, which I have been taking for a month or so, back to 1.25mg as my ectopics were so much worse rather than better on the higher dose (although the first few days were good, deceivingly).

We're in a bind, I reckon. My specialist told me he suspects I'll end up with another ablation (the first was for atrial flutter, though, back in 2019).

What a life we lead. It's only a very small comfort to keep telling myself life could be much worse, but it's a comfort worth having.

Yes the first few days on bisoprolol are good but for me after about a week started to get ectopic when I stopped talking bisoprolol had 3 wonderfully days then back to afib again so it's a bit of a game really for me as cardiology do not seem to have a lot of flexibility with there options

Stopping a beta-blocker (which needs a doctor's approval for anyone reading this...) is known to cause a kind of "rebound" excitability of the heart tissue, so, who knows, a few more days and your heart might have settled despite that initial AF coming on? I only changed my dose two days ago so I am still waiting for the new dose to settle. I know from the days I took it as and when needed that its effects lasts well into the second day after a dose.

Yes true I always speak to the doctor and cardiac nurse first then wait for them to approve changes

Hi

BBs e.g. Metropolol 186bpm and Bisoprolol 156 did not control my heart rate, rapid and persistent.

But CCB Diltiazem did within 2 hours of introducing it.

Advised to take Diltiazem 120mg AM for H/Rate

Bisoprolol 2.5mg (keeps ny essential tremor at bay) PM for BP

Then PRADAXA 110mg x twice day.

125mg Synthroid for Ca Thyroidectomy.

Damage to heart done left with no followup after Stroke with AF. 186bpm for 1 year 5 mths. 24hr H/onitor also showed pauses at night! Then left after change to Bisoprolol 10mths when another monitoring showed uncontrolled.

Now been controlled for 2 years 5 months. Great.

cheers JOY. 75. (NZ)

Hi

Verma... is a combination ACE Blocker and CCB Calcium Channel Blocker. It is an at risk drug.

I stopped taking the ACE inhibrace or something back in 2008 as it made me cough and cough befre I was diagnosed with AF n 2019.

I’m not on Bisoprolol now but I was on 10mg for 7 years until Covid caused havoc. Now on Amiodarone pending decision re ablation. Took a while to bed in but so far so good now. ( now I’ve written this it’ll start again I bet!)
