I was first started on Flecainide to be taken as a pip with 1.25 Bisoprolol added only if my heart rate was still above 140 twenty minutes later which it rarely was. I then took 50 mg twice daily and then 100mg twice daily which virtually put an end to episodes. Recently, I forgot the first pill of the day with no ill effects so suggested that I take 50mg in the morning and 100mg in the evening and that seems to be working well too. I have never been overweight and have a healthy diet with no meat or dairy and lots of fruit and veg but we are all different. I certainly haven’t found Flecainide to be a much of a problem and hope it works for you too.

Why are you cutting out your salt? Thanks.

Salt effects the effectiveness of flecainide there a lot of foods etc that have a high salt content

Google Salt and AF, there are studies that show a significant increase in first onset AF with those that consume high levels of salt. Some studies also show AF with low levels.

This all makes perfect sense to me.

And anecdotally, I have cut back on my salt intake and my AF dropped from once a month to once every 3 months. I am hoping that continued lifestyle changes will drop it more.

I take 100mg of flecainide 2x per day. My PA told me about a study concerning the negative effects of long term (10yrs) use of flecainide. I now have a stress test with imaging each year for that reason.

Can't take bisoprolol in that dosages was getting black outs tried 5mg the same problem went to 2.5 massive eptopics then 1.25 same problem they then tried verapamil no rate control they put me on digoxin horrendous I went back to a split tablet of 2.5. Mg bisoprolol which equates to 1.12 mg with 60 micr of digoxin just bearable so looks like it's back there again until ablation in a years time thanks for your info
