Hi all me again had my pre operation call Monday this week and on Tuesday to more follow up calls from the cardiologist doing the operation. I came away with no where near answers regarding post operation details. Going in for arthymia causing fast heart racing but wanted to know could I come off 1.20 mg bisoprolol when operation done as these cause me horrible side effects and poorly tolerated no other medication seems to work Was told would probably still be on bisoprolol after operation so feeling totally disheartened and wondering if the operation is worth going for no one seems to be able to guide me

It is normal for all meds to continue post procedure (it isn't realy an operation) for maybe three months but if the procedure is successful then once healing is complete you should be able to stop, Anticoagulation may not be a good idea to stop. Do check out our fact sheet on recovery please. I will link in a moment.

Hello,

Thank you for your post. It is completely understandable to be feeling mixed emotions. It can take time to adjust to new information whilst trying to make an appropriate decision also.

I think it would be a good idea to speak with your Cardiology team again as this may help you to gain clarity. You could write down your questions so when speaking to them, you will hopefully gain the answers you need. It is important to feel comfortable with the pre op and post op plan so hopefully speaking to them will aid with this.

I can see that our Recovering from an ablation information sheet has been linked but, we also have a Preparing for an ablation information sheet that I do hope you find helpful: api.heartrhythmalliance.org...

If you would like any support, advice or further information, please do reach out to our Patient Services Team via Patient Helpline or via email, please visit: heartrhythmalliance.org/afa...

Not clear what your op is but if its an ablation then this is my experience with 3 ablations and 3 cardioversions. After these I have to stop bisoprolol more or less immediately as it brings my HR to low and I collapse. 1,20 is a very small dose but you will have to see how you feel and talk to medics if a similar problem. Unlikely to stop anticoagulation.
