hi all

The more I look into my AF history from original GP appointment for breathlessness to now being on the Ablation waiting list I can’t help thinking there is a link

I had Covid the early part of December 2021 a vaccine January 2022 by mid February I was seeing the GP about breathing difficulty by May in hospital for 5 days with a 180 pulse

I was very pro vaccine and now probably still am when I think of the lives it saved but I do wonder what Covid or the vaccine has done to me

Any other one wonder about this as we seem to be swept under the carpet a little having these views

My afib started long before Covid, I think people are always looking for reasons why me? But as we age it seems to be a very common condition.

Covid made me very unwell and it has taken nearly a year for me to feel better, it didn’t affect my afib though but we are all different , I had to have 2 lots of steroids and antibiotics because of chest infection and was just left feeling utterly exhausted all the time, which lasted months.

I will always have Covid vaccines when offered because of my personal experience.

CDreamer profile image
CDreamer

Absolutely agree, be very, very worried about this.

I stopped having the COVID vaccinations in Spring 23 - never will take another and it seems as though other vaccines will now go the MRNA route so I won’t be taking any of those either.

I was always pro vaccine but too many reports of adverse affects, deaths and unexplained matters. I had COVID and was very ill with it in Oct 2022, I recovered and my AF returned (had been dormant for 4 years). I had 6 vaccines, I had reactions after each and every, the last making me immobile for 3 weeks and refused to have the flu jab without at least 7 days between. I was told I was very vulnerable being immune suppressed. The last vaccine made me as ill as the COVID and AF returned with a vengeance. I had one friend die after receiving the vaccine, another hospitalised for a week and is still badly affected and knowledge of others harmed. It seems to have now been publicly acknowledged that certain batches of the Pfizer vaccine caused harm - hence the litigation. This can no longer be labelled as ‘conspiracy theorists’, although sometimes it is really hard to know what to believe.

I have experienced, read and heard enough to realise that I was lucky to survive COVID and to almost completely recover but I don’t believe having repeated vaccinations for virus which constantly mutate is going to improve my health and well-being.

It also worries me greatly that those who speak out against vaccination, mask wearing and lock-downs have and continue to be demonised.

Whether or not to take any medication should always be personal choice, hopefully an informed choice which balances risks and benefits. My personal opinion is the risk of vaccine now outweighs any benefits.

I agree with you totally CD. My daughter knew a young lad who died the day after having the AZ vaccine. He'd gone along to have the Pfizer as recommended but they'd run out of that one so he had the AZ.

I think I had three in total, two AZ and one Pfizer. They all affected my AF. I also had the flu jab for the first time and a pneumonia one. The following year I had all three illnesses, to me that was more than a coincidence. I spent time in hospital when I had both Covid and pneumonia together. I actually caught Covid at hospital. There will be no more jabs of any kind for me. We should all have a choice whether to have them or not and I feel sorry for those in the nursing profession who lost their jobs for refusing to have it. When I think about the whole thing now, we were coerced into having them. I didn't want them from the start. The government instilled fear in us though with their daily reports on how many people had died, it was like a plague sweeping the whole world and when going out it was like being in a science fiction film with deserted streets and a few people who we did our best to avoid by crossing over the road.

The whole episode relating to Covid is under investigation now and MP Andrew Bridgen has spoken out about the harmful effects of the vaccine and desperately tried to make other MP's aware.

Lets allow everyone on this forum to have their own personal views regarding the Covid jab, whether good or bad and respect their opinions.

I agree absolutely my friend was perfectly healthy till she had covid injection the same day she had it was rushed to hospital on the evening with blood clots in her bowel she had to have part of her bowel removed and it was touch and go for a week she was in hospital for 5weeks and still isn't right to this day .

i couldnt agree more with you C dreamer. unfortunaltley everyone was swept away with a hype. personally when we heard this in 2020, i was suspicious but i have a suspicious mind and i like to research first.

there have been so many reports of strokes, heart attacks and excess deaths and anyone who dared challenge the narrative was silenced. one reason why Andrew Bridgen Mp was silenced because he brought this to the house of commons but was not istened to. Dr Stephen Wright nhs doctor fit n healthy died after jab. many people met the same fate and many have got ill and are still ill and many have realised why, but many just havent connected the reasons why.

i had 2 friends who died one of those was an active healthy man, i have friends who got ill after the jabs, and many of us questioned this. there is so much evidence and information out there now of the spike protein in the vax and what it does, many young male altheltics were collapsing or dying from myocarditas. there are many videos and reports of doctors viewpoint if you do a search,

it is alleged to affect heart conditions, i sugggest looking up Dr Mike Yeardon former chief scientific medical advisor for Pfizer and

Dr Peter McCullogh, a cardiologist, Dr karol Sikora, to name a few, but it is everyones personal choice having vaccinations but i know so many people now who have cottoned on and will never have another.

Belle11 profile image
Belle11 in reply to bluepettals7

Unfortunately, Prof Karol Sikara is a cancer specialist. and has no training in epidemiology. He made false predictions about Covid eg in Autumn 2020 "he favoured a prediction that the “the thing just fizzles out, it causes very few deaths, very few hospitalisations” He called for restrictions to be eased for Christmas 2020, an easing which spread the Alpha wave (edited) which killed an average of 1,250 people a day at its peak - more than the original wave.

We do indeed all have to make our own choices and I found that better informed information at the time came from doctors and scientists with training and experience in managing infectious diseases and epidemiology, and those who were coping with the overwhelming numbers of Covid patients in their hospital ICUs.

It also seems he has made false claims in the past about his position. "Why has Sikora been so systematically signal-boosted by media outlets throughout the crisis? Any cursory exercise of due diligence should have set off alarm bells. Back in 2009, Imperial College London took legal advice to prevent Sikora from claiming he had an honorary professorship there, with its rector declaring: “This individual has been warned before by the college for making claims that he is employed by us”" (from the article linked to above.

bluepettals7 profile image
bluepettals7 in reply to Belle11

Dr Karol sikora yes is a cancer specialist but his patients who were in remission came out of remission after the jab. however as i have just stated, it is a personal choice and up to an individual to do their own research. we cannot always believe what we hear from certain big organisations and or what we read in certain reports.

and the guardian report .... ????? no thanks were you aware the reports of every death being recorded as covid deaths.that is a fact. research it.

Auriculaire profile image
Auriculaire in reply to Belle11

Get your facts right. It was the Alpha variant that was around at Christmas 2020. The Delta variant is thought to have originated in India and did not start causing significant cases in UK till late Spring 2021.

Sikora was absolutely right about saying panic and fear will make the situation worse. Anxiety affects the immune system . Staying inside rather than getting out into the fresh air and sunshine is also very bad for general health. What nobody is prepared to talk about is that there is evidence from blood tests that covid was circulating in Europe long before the Chinese fessed up to it AND NOBODY NOTICED. I believe the fear and panic was deliberately stoked by governments. Indeed psychologists in the UK have admitted that this was the case and that it was unethical.

bluepettals7 profile image
bluepettals7 in reply to Auriculaire

yes you are so right... i remember now. gov had a 'scientific' behavioural scare team who admitted they had gone over and above the scare tactics to scare people into being jabbed. glad i wasnt one of them.

Belle11 profile image
Belle11 in reply to Auriculaire

You're right about it being the Alpha wave - thanks, I've edited my comment.

There may have been sporadic cases in the late months of 2019, although the research that found these cases is contested. Exponential spread starts very slowly and then suddenly rockets up. "the researchers took no measures to prevent the detection of other coronavirus antibodies, such as those from the common cold. Other scientists "pointed out that different testing methods could have affected the results, adding that they could not confirm the majority of the positives ..... A WHO investigation later revealed that there were not enough antibodies to prove that there were any infections."

When Wuhan was overrun with illness and death from Covid infections, the 34 year old scientist who raised the alarm was villified, and later caught Covid from a patient, and died. We saw areas of Italy where health services were overrun with Covid cases, before it came to the UK and cases here too rose exponentially.

Dr Rachel Clarke, palliative care doctor's play "Breathtaking" shown on ITV, and available on catchup shows the extreme stresses n hospitals when staff were having to decide who to treat and who to allow to die - because ICUs were overwhelmed in parts of the country here too.

Auriculaire profile image
Auriculaire in reply to Belle11

There were other cases here in France other than the one mentioned in this article . Blood samples taken from patients with unrelated problems were later analysed for antibodies and some were found positive for SARS CoV2. Given the time taken for antibodies to form after infection and the date on the samples it was thought that the patients must have been infected in Nov 2019. There was a great deal of anecdotal evidence of people suffering from a covid like bug in late autumn early winter of 2019 with all the symptoms including loss of smell and taste. My husband had such a bug at Christmas 20i19 . Many people report being ill for weeks.

Although I only had one jab- the Janssen - I very much regret it. I am not sure if I have had any consequences. My afib has become more frequent but that might well have happened anyway. I have not had a flu vaccination since 2011. After my jab in 2010 I was ill all winter . I later found out it was the first year they put out the H1N1 strain into the annual jab. I have been following the work of Christine Stabell Benn a Danish vaccinologist who has discovered some fascinating things about side effects of different sorts of vaccines. Not just bad side effects but beneficial ones too depending on the sort of vaccine and the H1N1 flu vaccine was one of the ones she lists as having undesirable side effects. I was always suspicious of the covid vaccines as nobody can honestly pronounce a vaccine safe with only 2/3 months of data. Over the last couple of years more and more papers are coming out showing the mechanisms by which they can cause damage. There are also papers by reputable statisticians that tear apart the notion that they saved millions of lives and which show that their efficacy was greatly exaggerated both by the clinical trials and subsequent observational studies. Then there is the refusal of many countries to release data on all cause mortality with vaccination status. At the moment I am swithering about getting the diptheria , tetanus and pertussis vaccine. It is no longer possible to get tetanus on it's own which as a gardener I am supposed to keep up to date. But pertussis is on Stabell Benn's "naughty" list and given how sensitive I am to meds in general I am very worried about this. I certainly do not want a repeat of my reaction to my 2010 flu jab. Since stopping getting an annual flu jab I have actually felt much better in winter! As far as I know I have never had covid and I will continue to maintain that a good diet and a high vit D level is a safer bet than experimental vaccines.

Well John Campbell has a doctorate but he is (was) primarily an educationist for the nursing profession not a qualified doctor or researcher but he does know how to interpret scientific research. What he is good at is pushing the papers and studies of researchers and academics who are, quite rightly in my view, challenging the political stance taken by various authorities without convincing, science based evidence and fighting for open discussion amongst researchers, doctors and academics without fear of consequences.

Dr John Campbell isn't a doctor, he's a retired nurse with an PhD in nursing education using digital media (i.e., YouTube) from the OU. He was teaching online about anatomy before Covid. The BBC Radio 4 "More or Less" programme covered one of his claims, and following this John Campbell took down the video concerned admitting that he didn't understand the statistics involved.

From my understanding, the spike protein I. The jabs tells our cytes and killer cells to only look for Covid cells. And that’s why the immune system becomes depressed and also why cancer seems to be spreading more now. This is what I’ve read but I don’t have any scientific proof.

From the World Health Org:

"Overall, COVID-19 vaccines reduced death by 57% across the WHO European Region, between December 2020, when the vaccine rollouts began, and March 2023.

In fact, the first booster doses alone saved an estimated 700 000 lives.

Just think about it: today, there are 1.4 million people in our region – most of them elderly – who are around to enjoy life with their loved ones because they took the vital decision to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

This is the power of vaccines. The evidence is irrefutable."

I think you asked a legitimate question from your own experience. Others here have related similar experiences. This is what the forum is about. I've shifted my own position on the COVID vaccine and am now more aware of the dangers MRNA formats. The Pfizer Bivalent triggered my shingles and I was unwell for 8 weeks. I know others with similar experiences. We need more nuanced approaches to this topic - not polarised positioning. And just because some people who engage with this post WILL take up polarised positions doesn't mean you shouldn't ask the question, or have the conversation.

Singwell profile image
Singwell in reply to Buffafly

But if we can't have the conversation then how can we make our own decision? We need to discuss. I agree we don't need to polarise into 'I'm right, you're wrong'.

Buffafly profile image
Buffafly in reply to Singwell

It’s fine to do what NLGA asked, to swap C stories, as long as you don’t actually base a decision on them. Decisions should be based on the best scientific information available at the time and it’s also fine to to query the information because sometimes scientific information changes in the light of further experience but I don’t think this is the place for the querying to be aired because this can be a life changing decision. Making a decision on the basis of a few people linking their AF or any other ailment to the jab isn’t sensible. It’s called ‘arguing from the specific to the general’ and there’s not even anything to prove their experience wasn’t an unfortunate coincidence. It’s in the same league as the chicken hit on the head by an acorn who rushed to tell another animal ‘the skies afallin’ which was passed on among all the other animals causing panic.

I know I should never read a word of these conversations because they infuriate me so note to self : Never again read anything where Covid is mentioned 😐

But people must be able to reply to you politely in the way they choose otherwise it isn’t really free speech, it’s only ‘tell me what I want to hear’.

Singwell profile image
Singwell in reply to Buffafly

I know how you might feel. And I'd argue that people's anecdotal evidence - especially if of themselves or people theyre close to (as opposed to stories based on stories) is also legitimate qualitative data. That said, I don't think we'll have a good answer to all of this for at least another 10 years.

Bunkular profile image
Bunkular in reply to Buffafly

Excellent analogy! If everyone had based their decisions about vaccines only on anecdotal stories of friends of friends etc & not on scientific data, accuracy gets lost. When only 'stories' of other people's experiences get told they get spread around until they get exaggerated to the point of horror stories which do not serve anyone's purpose at all. FACT: Covid vaccines dropped the number of Covid deaths dramatically worldwide. There is no disputing that fact.

Auriculaire profile image
Auriculaire in reply to Bunkular

But there are scientists such as Prof Norman Fenton a mathematician and Professor of Risk Information Management at Queen Mary College in London who are disputing "that fact". There are other scientists too among them statisticians who point out that the studies that show the vaccines saved millions of lives are flawed. You might remember that in early 2021 we were being told that it was a fact that getting vaccinated prevented you from catching covid. There are videos of people who really should have known better like Joe Biden and the then head of the CDC in America saying this so as to encourage people to get vaccinated. Well that turned out not to be a " fact" at all. What is sure is that scientific knowledge evolves and that today's "facts" turn out to be yesterday's "myths".

Honestly I think everybody whether in Afib, heart failure or any other serious diseases people wonder if somethings they did in life caused it to happen, did I eat too much fat, too much sugar or my drinking and smoking or even my medication may have caused it. Most have their own hunches as to what caused their ills but rarely are correct so I suppose when we get something that is life threatening or possibly life threatening we as humans need a reasonable cause to be able to digest it. I myself blame getting Covid as the reason I got my Afib although I have other heart problems that certainly would have contributed to it. Since time began people have been dying although good medical practice and proper disease eradication has more than doubled our lifespan in a very short period of time? and yes I have read your post again.

“Just think about it: today, there are 1.4 million people in our region – most of them elderly – who are around to enjoy life with their loved ones because they took the vital decision to be vaccinated against COVID-19.” WHO

If I was 90 years old, dependent to the extent of requiring nursing home care and able to take the decision, I would refuse vaccination. If I didn’t have capacity, I hope my family would respect this decision as stated in my advance decision.

I felt strongly from the beginning that lockdown was a huge mistake. Too much has been sacrificed to protect a group of very elderly people, often with a poor quality of life, who may have preferred not to have been protected in this way. Influenza was in the past regarded as the friend of the dependent elderly.

The cost has been to the education and mental health of our children, also huge and ongoing financial consequences. To this can be added the current state of NHS waiting lists, particularly for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

I understand this is a controversial point of view and I have no intent to provoke or offend.

Popepaul profile image
Popepaul in reply to Barny12

The above is an assertion, it is not an evidence base. It has long been accepted that poverty correlates with an increased death rate (Black Report). I assume that it is accepted. a nation we are poorer because of the misguided attempts to control covid. I think that increases in death rate are already locked in. Recent death rates amongst the young have gone up remarkably. I guess that only time will tell. Some studies suggest that poor school attendance correlates with a lower life expectancy (presumably because of poverty higher rates of social deprevation. addiction etc.) The schools were closed for much of Covid. Personally I would be reluctant to quote the WHO. As an organisation it put established scientific practice on its head during Covid.

It is somewhat disconcerting that the WHO wants to have additional powers to direct individual nations on how they are to react to future potential pandemics.

Barny12 profile image
Barny12 in reply to Popepaul

From Full Fact (independent fact checkers):

What was claimed

"There is no evidence that the Covid-19 vaccines saved a single life."

Our verdict

Research by the UK Health Security Agency and Cambridge University suggests that the Covid-19 vaccines saved more than 100,000 lives in England alone up to Sep 2021.

From the British Medical Journal:

Vaccination against covid-19 has reduced deaths in Europe by at least 57% and saved at least 1.4 million lives. The analysis of data from 34 countries also found that over 90% of lives saved were in people over 60.

From December 2020 to March 2023, vaccines reduced deaths by 57% in 70-79-year olds and by 54% in 60-69 year olds. Mortality was reduced by 52% in the 50-59 age group.

The benefits of vaccination in reducing the spread of the virus and protecting public health have been confirmed by the overwhelming scientific consensus and widely recognised by public health authorities, medical experts, and governments worldwide including the World Health Organization, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the European Medicines Agency (EMA), based on all currently available evidence.

Agreed. I too trust real scientific, evidence based data (WHO) over anyone's personal experiences with their "jab" stories. It's unfortunate that anyone chooses to believe another person's experience of vaccinations over what doctors overall are recommending. Also if someone searched online for long enough they'll find some doctor who is claiming that vaccines are not beneficial for anyone all while he/she is promoting their products and/or books. One must be careful of that scenario like the doctor who falsely claimed that vaccines causes autism in children, which unfortunately has created the end result of the return of childhood polio and measles. That's sad.

I have always been a great believer in vaccines and have no doubt that with my health history I would not be here but for my multiple covid vaccines.

I do , however, believe that most of the more recent health problems, high platelets, SOB and pulmonary hypertension have all arrived since having covid last year. Although the actual infection seemed only to be a very high temperature for a few days the gradual build up of these symptoms can not be denied as neither can the cough I have had since mid January though in fairness this is gradually subsiding..

Like wise my Brother (age 85) who has had none symptomatic AF for many years and was fit and healthy and growing his own vegetables than had Covid a year last Christmas. He has since been diagnosed with long Covid . I often wonder would he still be here had he not had some protection from the vaccination.

According to a large research study of more than 20million people

‘Covid vaccinations substantially reduce the risk of heart failure and potentially dangerous blood clots linked to the infection for up to a year’

This was reported by Ian Sample in the Guardian under Medical Research a few days ago should you wish to read it. It does not deny the fact that there have been adverse reactions to the vaccinations but obviously the benefit outweighs the risk based on present knowledge.

It all depends on how risk averse you are but if you fear the jab maybe you should fear the real thing more?

I vacillate wildly. I have an almost debilitating ability to see both sides of an argument.I have had 6 vaccinations none with overt side effects, even when against my better judgement I had flu and covid vaccs together. I nearly decided against the last jab but changed my mind.

I think the sticking point for me is the lack of clarity at least at the outset of how far reaching was the effect of MRNA mediated vaccines. They do affect parts of the body they were not advertised as reaching!!!

My concern may well be directed towards second generation outcomes and the increase in sudden deaths in younger people.

I do not think itspossible to disentangle easily the causes of this, or long term effects of vaccine and of covid.

My biggest regret is my teenage grandchildren choosing to have the vaccs, following the slightly heavy advice from above about protecting your grand parents.

it is the mRNA, these are not oldfashione dvaccinations that we all once had and this is what people dont realise , it is the mRNA, and what it does and affects. everyday in the paper there are deaths from heart conditions daily or someone has died. i question why... i question everything.

Interesting points and I was like you- vacillating about my winter 23 jab since I'd reacted to the last one. There's a whole issue about immunity that has been sparked by COVID and it's going to continue because it looks like we as humans are in danger of becoming immunocompromised. Worrying times.

It is a well known that Covid can bring about AF and there are some who have found that the vaccines have given them a bout of AF - but then again so would another bout of AF? You just have to do the best you can. I have had all the vaccines and it has not affected me.

Hornets nest kicked. Well done NLGA (I mean thank you and well done with no sarcasm). I had three covid Pfizer jabs and the timing of them coincided with my memory being messed up completely ....

but it also coincides with going back into persistent a-fib (I don't blame the vaccine for that) ... so maybe my memory is messed up the vaccines, maybe i had a TIA triggered by the a-fib that i didn't pick up, maybe I haven't processed the trauma of having to live in persistent a-fib ... so many maybes ...

I won’t be having anymore of the Covid vaccines. I have had four and the last one SARS and Covid 2 made me very poorly and bedridden. I have not been well since then (November 2023) with various medical issues which have sent me to AE on several occasions. I have had X-rays, ct scan of head and abdomen, ear problems and gastric issues. I am now waiting to see a Gastroenterologist. The husband of a friend of mine had a stroke and is in care. A paramedic at my health centre told me that he was not having anymore and advised me to do the same. I think in my case l will heed his warning.

well I’ve had COVID 3 times now and thankfully it didn’t seem to affect my PAF , I was very lucky and had little or no symptoms especially my recent bout .

My PAF started before COVID or vaccinations existed although I have friends who try and convince me otherwise!

I did have all my vaccinations both AZ and Pfizer but didn’t get round to having the last one .

As with all matters medical it’s down to personal choice , risk v reward etc .

I do think the whole COVID/ vaccines has been the most divisive topic in recent history.

I wonder if having Covid and then the vaccination so close together might have played a part in your situation? I have no idea what the norm is for having the Covid vaccination if you are only a month or so away from having had Covid. I haven't had Covid ( yet!) and had 3 Covid jabs with no after effects at all. My Afib kicked in 13 years ago with no link to anything. Hope you don't have to wait too long for your ablation. Bisoprolol made me a bit breathless and lowering the dose helped ( Cardiologist decision).

Take care

Hi NLGA

For me I do wonder if there's a link. I had an initial unexplained collapse a month into the 1st lockdown. Dont remember feeling anything in my chest but there again dont remember much about the collapse. At the time 4 of us in the house , 3 WFH, 1 was a key worker, coming into contact with people. At the time I vaguely remember comments from various parties saying some people would get it and have no symptoms. Did I have it but didn't know? No idea. I had confirmed covid NYD 2021. Wiped out for a week at least. After my 1st jab, got the same symptoms as covid. The 2nd was fine but 3 weeks after the booster my chest started "dancing". Started to collapse again. This was picked up on my loop recorder. 3 months later happened again & other smaller "episodes" picked up since (even after ablation). My breathing has never been the same since covid nor my health in general. Also developed an autoimmune disease since having covid too. Before that my health was fine. Have asked my GP about a link and he just asked did I think I had fybromyalgia and gave me a leaflet! Haven't had any more vaccinations and oddly I haven't had any significant colds / flu etc since. For me I'm convinced theres a link but, who knows?

I think it's really hard to tell what has caused AF to develop, whether it is the vaccine triggering a reaction in someone whom was more likely to develop AF for some reason, or something else, especially if you also contracted COVID not long before getting any vaccines. My cousin is in a similar situation to you , they contracted COVID and had a few days in hospital, they had mild symptoms of long COVID for a few months after and many of those symptoms could have been early signs of AF but they were dismissed by my cousin as just part of being run down and struggling to recover.

They got their COVID vaccine and it is hard to tell whether they already had AF or ended up developing it after the vaccine because their system was still weak when they got vaccinated. Although their Specialist now says it is likely that they were suffering with intermittent AF since having the virus but didn't think about going to AandE with the symptoms until after being vaccinated because of the press about side effects.

I have various health conditions which affect my immune system , living in Wales it meant I was living under lockdown measures for nearly one year, if I and others hadn't had the vaccines I would have been isolated for much longer. I've had all my vaccines and boosters , it was only after the multi strain booster last year that it affected my AF for a few days. So yes, on some occasions getting a vaccine , any vaccine , can cause a temporary AF event in people whom has it, but it doesn't necessarily trigger AF with every vaccine you receive, and I've found the AF events I've had while coping with a virus or infection are far worse.

My AF and Arrhythmias are not caused by the vaccines and I've never had COVID ( long may this continue) my issue developed because of another cardiac and neuro condition called Chronic Dysautonomia. The tachycardia that I already had to manage everyday made me more likely to develop AF.

AF can be caused by any stress , it can take months or even years for you to feel the symptoms of it, there isn't always just one definite trigger, so it's actually quite hard to be sure for any of us if one stressful thing that happened just before we began to feel AF symptoms was the only cause or trigger , even after we have been diagnosed, more often, that one thing was just the straw that broke the camels back.

I had a similar occurrence which resulted in an Aortic valve replacement and major Mitral repair. The open heart surgery was successful but I was left with AF and flutter. I know as a retired Pharmacist my view that this was due to the COVID-19 vaccine is unscientific but I am suspicious that this is the " likely". As I result my wife and I have declined this year's booster. incidentally, I am generally pro-vaccination.

Hi I had the AZ vaccine and three days later my heart went into sustained ventricular tachycardia and I had to call an ambulance. For the following weeks I was serverly ill to the point I thought I was going to dye. I have been seen by multiple doctors from two of the countries leading heart hospitals and not one of them would comment on weather it was related to the AZ vaccine when I asked them. The only comment I did get by one of them who just said this vaccine has a lot to answer for! A nurse also told me that she took had developed afib after having the vaccine and had to have cardio version. I now have to take medication every day to try and stop my heart going in to ventricular tachycardia and I am breathless all the time. I had no previous problems and had also had COVID twice before having the jab with no adverse affects.

So before you all jump on the band wagon saying I must be an anti vaccer I will cattergoricly tell you I wasn't and in fact I was all up for it! Now how ever I think it's high time it was looked into properly by some leading experts because the unexplained deaths rate in countries all over the world has gone through the roof. If you want to have a look at some data relating to this yourself have a look at Dr John Campbells YouTube channel where he only uses facts that can be seen by the public to highlight what is really happening since the vaccine roll out that the government and big pharmaceutical companies don't want you to know.

Hi NLGA, I can’t give you medicine advice, but I can tell you my experience, take from it what you will. I was a healthy 60 year old who had twice yearly full medical and ECGs as had commercial pilot’s licence. All good. Also trained as a medical scientist years ago. Coerced into the vaccine as I worked at a hospital in between other jobs. Then… legs so painful I couldn’t stand sheets on them. Then… 4 weeks of nosebleeds every day. Then… shingles (unbelievable pain) Then 2 years later… mitral valve prolapse and chordae all ruptured. Now.. 11 weeks post op OHS. MV repair.

Onto the interesting bit… I was severely breathless after the op. So much so I tried the windows at the hospital, but it was only 4 floors up, and the windows were locked anyway. Still breathless on discharge (pulse 120 and in AF) and for another 6 weeks. I thought the repair had failed and became despondent. Breathlessness like being suffocated. Worse than severe pain.

Then I remembered a paper I read back in the Covid days on nattokinase; a natural fibrinolytic enzyme, spike protein binder, and red cell de-clumper (forgive paraphrasing- you can read all about nattokinase in science papers on Google Scholar - the theory is that spike protein, whether from Covid or vaccine induced autoimmune disease, clumps red cells together) I was also having double vision, (17 times) along with severe SOB. From my science training I knew clumped red cells are not going to travel through the small vessels around the alveoli, or for that matter in small vessels of the brain, so nattokinase was a ‘long shot try’ for me, and of course taking a fibrinolytic while on warfarin is risky… but I was suffocating and very very desperate. I took one capsule and 8 hours later I could breathe! It’s now 3 weeks since I began using it and I walk 5km daily. A month ago, bedroom to bathroom would crease me.

This could all be a total coincidence. And as I say, this is NOT medical advice and mixing nattokinase with anticoagulants is probably / possibly risky, but this is what I experienced.

On another note… I see MP Andrew Bridgen has approached the Met Police with allegations of Murder and Corporate Manslaughter among other serious charges and so far he is being ignored…The Covid enquiry seems a total farce... None of my medical friends will touch another mRNA jab ever again… NICE has redacted NG163… ONS release shows a depressing picture on those vaccinated being worse off than not!……………

We live in interesting times! Best wishes on your recovery.

I have been down a whole warren of rabbit holes on this often repeated conversation.

I am greatly encouraged by the apparent trend of opinion here .

I would just add I understand there were different batches of vaccine some with more side effects, this could be why some had no serious side effects. In fact, one leading world expert doctor said recently if your arm suffered no issues and you felt OK post jab, then you probably are in the clear...great news ! For the rest protocols to deal with the spike et al are being developed by usage and no doubt will soon be reliable enough for mainstream to use.

Looking at the dates you give, I wonder, too, if the vaccine did not somehow re-activate the immune system which had already been affected by the virus itself? This seems one other possibility looking at some of the studies being done on this.

A friend's daughter had a similar thing. She had covid-19 in, I think, March 2022 with a cough that lasted far longer than usual (but she does also have asthma). She never fully felt well and was told she had "long covid". During this time, I think her GP only diagnosed her over the phone and without taking the matter further. Then, in October, she had her covid booster jab and within a fortnight she was feeling even more poorly and was finally diagnosed with vasculitis and kidney problems, for which she's still receiving treatment. Her specialist hasn't suggested it was the vaccine, but was the result of the covid infection, however. Looking at the studies online, vasculitis (a rare immune inflammatory condition of the circulation) has become more prevalent since covid-19 has been circulating.

That made me smile. The word “apparently” has certainly taken on a whole new meaning when used on Facebook and social media since Covid arrived. 😳

One important part of the very complex “truth” is that governments and health authorities were initially frightened beyond anything previously known by a new airborne virus that was filling hospitals and mortuaries in other countries before arriving here.

Those early scenes, well before vaccination arrived, were mind boggling and frightening. How we acted I can only hope was for the best overall but, in the UK, it all seemed to be thoroughly messed up by politics and a deeply inept bunch of politicians led by a near madman.

So sad to see some of these comments many of which are based mostly on anecdotal nervousness and make nervous people even more nervous. I wish I could have introduced many of you to the exhausted nurse who lived in my block of flats who also had an anecdote to tell. (The hospital is close to where I live) She was in terrible distress because she worked in the COVID ward which was literally overflowing with patients. The vast majority were unvaccinated. And many died. So many that one body, of a man it turned out that I knew, was actually lost in the chaos of the local morgue. Every single piece of reliable evidence shows that a minority of people react badly to the vaccine. Every single piece of reliable evidence shows that the huge majority of the world's population was made safer by its use. It cannot be made perfect but the risk to reward is worth taking. I defend everyone's right to an opinion but anybody who publishes an opposite view is, in my opinion, contributing to the fear mongering which is now murdering children with measles in places like Florida, where the scepticism is growing. And it's coming here. A disease which vaccines had virtually eliminated.

It's sad to find that this thread has gone the way of any that mention covid vaccine side effects and attracted not only genuinely useful and informative individual reports of first-hand side effects, but also a lot of potentially spurious information that relies on anecdote and hearsay with reports from so-called "experts in the field" some of whom are known conspiracy theory promoters.

This is such a shame as, eventually, I suspect the administrators will probably need to close the thread and we won't be able to hear from those who have genuinely useful first-hand information to impart.

It's clear that people get side effects after vaccinations - all vaccinations. It's also the case, I should think, that no vaccination has been administered as widely and frequently as the covid one, thus, more side effects will surely be the result. But the risks of developing serious covid-19 disease itself, an illness that rarely but still far too often requires hospitalisation, oxygen therapy and sometimes ER input, and with long-term morbidity, especially in un-vaccinated individuals, is surely far too high for us to turn our backs on these generally very safe vaccines..

Hello NLGA

Just sharing my personal experience. I was a fit healthy man in his late 50s, regular visits to the gym, non smoker, BMI 21, occasional drinker. I had the Covid vaccine (AZ) without any problems, barely a sore upper arm so went for the second vaccine (again AZ) with no worries. 2 days after the vaccine I noticed my ankles had swollen and so paid a visit to the doctor. It transpired I was in asymptomatic AF with a heart rate of 230 - I was completely unaware. Rushed to hospital and was confirmed with AF and heart failure. Went through a series of tests in my home town, with second opinion tests at the Royal Brompton in London. Since then I've had two ablations and am back in NSR. Both specialists advised not to take any further Covid vaccines and one confirmed that there had been a not insignificant number of AF triggered cases with the AZ vaccine. I was just one of the unlucky ones. There's no doubt the vaccine benefitted many others and saved lives but this is just my experience.

Auriculaire profile image
Auriculaire in reply to Cavalierrubie

The spike protein of the virus is toxic to the body. Unfortunately this was what was chosen as antigen for the vaccine. When you get the jab the cells of the body are instructed by the mRNA (if you have Pfizer or Moderna) to make the spike protein. Unfortunately this manufacturing does not stop after a short time in all people. In some people it could go on for weeks or even months. Spike protein has been found several months after vaccination in the organs of autopsied patients . The spike protein made by the vaccine is not exactly the same as the natural one in the virus . The mRNA was tinkered with to stop the body destroying it too quickly before an adequate immune reaction could take place. When you have a natural infection the immune system should clear the body of the virus (and therefore of the toxic spike protein) for most people within a week or two. It is thought that long Covid might be the result of the immune system not clearing the virus completely. The FLCCC have devised protocols which change frequently as more experience is gained to help clear spike protein from the bodies of people who are suffering from long Covid and also what they call long Vaxx. I believe one of the treatments is Ivermectin. This would be diffecult to get hold of in the UK. But the last time I looked at their protocols there were some supplements like NAC and vit D recommended. If you have not already had one you should have a vit D level test.

Well, I’ve never had Covid. Had side effects after first 3 vacs (AZ and Pfizer), but it was 2 weeks after the 4th one (Moderna) when I had my first episode of AF. I won’t be having any more Covid jabs.

I am (was) a firm believer in all vaccines and, without any hesitation, had 5 of the COVID-19 vaccinations. However, I was diagnosed with AF in 2020, which has been very stressful, and made worse by adverse reactions to the meds I was prescribed for the AF. Even though I am a firm believer in vaccinations, gradually I believed that this particular vaccine had brought on my AF, and at 82 I decided, very reluctantly, not to have my last booster. This is my personal experience.

I too share your concerns. I have had Covid twice, very badly. First time June 2022 and the second, July 2023. Had all my vaccinations. On both occasions, I became breathless following recovery and have never had any breathing problems. I then had a vaccination on 27 September 2023 and on 29 September had appointment with GP for horrendous palpitations. I was then diagnosed with AFib. Two weeks following diagnosis, I was in hospital with a suspected heart attack. I realise this all may be coincidence but I'm afraid there is more evidence of a connection between AFib and other heart conditions and Covid/vaccination. There is a lot of research into this especially in the US. Not sure we'll have a definitive answer soon, but interesting and disturbing at the same time.

I had a covid vaccine in December 2021 and in late December I had a mini-stroke that I wasn't aware of at the time presumably caused by a fib. That came to light in July 2023 when I had a stroke definitely caused by a fib. (I also had a vaccine in June 2023). The volunteer who phones me to give me stroke support is also a stroke patient and he told me his occurred following a vaccine in 2021. I don't know whether this is all coincidence (I'm not an antivaxer or conspiracy theorist). But it would be nice to know if that was the case which would help with the ongoing research into a fib. Maybe a straw pole?

It's a long way back but think the original post asked if things were swept under the carpet ,yes is my answer . Unfortunately there aren't enough independent experts brave enough to ask for enquiries and for the truth to come out . People like Dr Campbell and Andrew bridgen were named as nut jobs and nobody was interested in taken them seriously . Regarding the jabs like so many have said its a personal choice but just look at the amount of posts this subject has generated ,all right it gets heated sometimes but it needs to be discussed and Aired, thanks everyone for your views ,don't forget we've all got something in common A/F and we're still here .

Please lighten up people - different opinions and discussion are great things and they really shouldn’t be one personal - we’re all entitled to our opinions and remember irrefutable evidence one day may be totally refuted a year later - nothing is absolute. Personally , I’m in favour of vaccinations and think they’ve done far more good than harm- Do I believe that Covid has the potential to impact my health - Yes, Do I believe Covid vaccines have the potential to affect my health- Yes. I’ve chosen not to have any more Covid vaccines and that’s my choice but I don’t believe my choice should be everyone’s and I still believe they have very likely saved many lives

Well said.

It is sad that the C-jab campaign was much more serious than previously as we were shamed for having our own opinion/choice and some poor devils were threatened with their jobs or college admission and fell seriously ill or worse - totally unacceptable in my opinion.

From the variety of passionate replies,it seems as though NLGA may have touched a nerve. Here in the U.S. we have a similar variety of ernest commenters. Some of you may also be aware of our "never vaxxors"- those who are convinced that government suggested or mandated vaccines are - for whatever reason - harmful and thus to be avoided

This said, during the past 2 years, I have been treated for A Flutter and despite precautions have had 2 mild cases of COVID. I might add that my wife and I have each had 4 COVID vaccinations (Moderna). So from a very small sample size of 2 , I cannot enthusiastically say our COVID vaccinations were the reason for my mild cases, but I like to think so.

This thread has been fun & all but probably ultimately irrelevant now as many of us will not qualify for the covid booster this spring and going forwards (in the UK) unless we're over 75.

I had almost the exact same experience. Covid in January 2020, vax in February 2020, first bout with a-fib June 2020. Before that, I never experienced so much as a missed beat — all indications that my heart was in perfect shape. Too many cases like this, too many young people with cancer & heart disease, too many excess deaths over projections since the vax. Not a coincidence.

Auriculaire profile image
Auriculaire in reply to Maresydoats

I think you must be confusing dates. The covid vaccines were not available till Dec 2020 so you could not have had one in February.

Good point and why have a vaccine just a month after having Covid!

Auriculaire profile image
Auriculaire in reply to JudiHalf

Unfortunately the advice in the UK was poor about spacing vaccination after infection. Here in France at least 3 months was recommended even for the most vulnerable. Another seious flaw in the entire vaccination program was not encouraging people to test to see if they had a latent covid infection when going to be vaccinated as getting the jab when infected could make the infection worse.

Interesting. The paramedic l spoke to who said he wouldn’t be having any more vaccines and advised me not to either, also said, if l have had 3 or more vaccinations then it’s unlikely l will die of Covid. I didn’t have long to chat, but l wonder where he got that information? Do they know something we don’t? Are they hiding something? I found it a strange thing to say when we are told to have boosters to continue being protected.

Having Covid in Dec. 2020 certainly made my a-fib much worse, where I needed an ablation in April of 2021. I didn't notice an upswing in my episodes after the vaccinations, but that's not to say it didn't affect others.

AustinElliot profile image

I had my first AF episode before Covid. I have had Covid twice and had the vaccination 3 times. My AF returned during Covid and got worse.

I would and am going to continue to have the vaccination not only for myself but for society. Over 1 million Americans are alive thanks to the vaccine. Measles cases rose 79% due to poor vaccination levels in some communities around the world. Polio returned to the US in 2022.

I have read most of the comments and this is a heated subject. We must remember this vaccine was given under emergency use. Which means the companies had no liability whatsoever if anyone got sick. I had Covid early on, I did not see the need to get vaccinated at all. I lost friends over my decision but it was clearly stated on our FDA website that it could cause inflammation of the heart or of the lining of the heart. That was a huge red flag for me.

So yes I believe the C vaccine would cause people more AF or start it. Do research on the immune system and ANS. you will find they are very closely intertwined along with the microbiome.

My other point is you don't have to be a doctor to understand your own body and to know it is a process of closely related systems.

We don't have to be a doctor to know that our bodies are affected my viruses, bacteria, and funguses. What the differences are and what to do about them.

I’m 75 and have permanent AFib. I have had all the vaccines offered (Pfizer) without any problems. I will have the next one. I have not knowingly had Covid.

I don’t know whether my teenage children will be offered more vaccines. They had those offered previously without problems and remain healthy.

My instinct is to advise them against further vaccinations until the situation is clearer.

Does anyone know of any solid evidence of the benefit/risk ratio of COVID vaccination in first world under 18s? Thank you in advance.

hello, I have read many of the responses. I have been told by two medical professionals under whose care I am that my condition or conditions could be a result of covid AND / OR the vaccines. I am aware that there is on going research into covid and also the efficiency of the vaccines….. which sadly in my opinion is required but rather late in the day.

Best regards,

I totally agree with all the comments that the Covid Vaccine has caused so many problems, I had a TIA in 2021, well they called it a TIA, 10 days after having the Pfizer booster Vaccine, it doesn't take Hercule Poirot to work that one out, as others have said 'No more Vaccines for me' and I'm not anti Vaccines, I'm just anti taking something that can cause serious harm.

absolutely! Now that’s not to say there are plenty of people who have had AF or heart issues pre-Covid, but look to the research the vaccine companies have done themselves, and you will see an incredible rise in heart Issues. It was a known side-effect from the very beginning, that only a few people were willing to talk about. now on the vaccine injury registry, particularly in the UK in the United States. There are millions of people now suffering from myocarditis etc. These are people who have never been ill in this way prior to the vaccine. I’m not anti-VAX either but I do a lot of research outside of the mainstream and I can tell you there is a lot of stuff being hidden from us regarding this over the past few years very sad .

I have never had COVID. I’ve had 5 vaccinations to protect me from it. I’ve been vaccinated with 3 different vaccines. I’ll say from the outset that my condition started before COVID and before any vaccine. However, I have reacted to some vaccines and they’ve aggravated my existing condition. I too have chosen to refrain from any more vaccinations, including influenza, for a while.

AZ didn’t have any impact on me. A small headache but that’s about it with each one. The first Pfizer was also ok with perhaps pain at the injection site. Then I had Moderna and it whacked me quite hard! I will never have this one ever again. The next was a Pfizer again and I had a reaction this time. My reactions usually include an increase in my arrythmias. For Moderna this continued for many months. The second Pfizer was only for about 6 weeks.

My cardiologist agrees that there is evidence that if you’re prone to arrhythmias, the vaccines can bring it out. He did not agree they caused them and said the evidence was still unclear. He said covid was the same.

It will aggravate or bring out arrhythmias so it’s 6 of one - half dozen of the other. Risk a vaccine or risk COVID. For the interim, I’ve decided to risk COVID and that’s my personal choice.

I had AFib before I had Covid, but it was well controlled by a very small dose of medication, so I had only very rare episodes.I had two Covid vaccines - no problem at all with either.

Then, I caught Covid at school ( teacher) and all hell broke loose.

I had three AFib episodes in 6 days, and on that 6th day, Covid symptoms came on strong.

Suddenly I was having AF episodes every two days.

That frequency of episodes never waned, despite a hugely increased medication dose. ( 80mg a day increased in steps to 240mg a day.)

There is no doubt in my mind that Covid infection aggravated my AFib.

There is also a lot of clinical research being done now into Covid links to arrhythmia - both new onset and increase in arrhythmias like AFib, and a clear causation link is being established.

(The same cannot be said for the vaccine.)

I have just had surgery in Tokyo and am currently recuperating by free of AFib.💝🥰

I have had AF since 2018, so it was before Covid. I have had 4 shots for Covid, a Flu shot every year and even had two shots for shingles. I did not have any side effects except for a sore arm and no effect on my AF.
