Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation and Pancreatic

Hi all,

I am new to this forum and just wanted to see if anyone has suffered the same symptoms as myself.

I was rushed into hospital with infection markers of over 400, but showed no other symptoms with the exception of the 10 days of sickness.

After weeks of investigations and blood test. Found I had e.coli and had been in my system for weeks. Which in turn had manifested into acute necrosis pancreatic. Managed to clear all the infection with antibiotics, but lost 6 stone in weight. Over the 4 months in hospital. All my infection marker have returned to the normal range, but got enzyme deficiency now. About 2 months ago felt strong palpitations and had high pulse of approximately 160 bpm with a feeling of my heart jumping about my chest.

Went to A&E and they said I was in atrial fibrillation rhythm. This returned to sinus rhythm on its own after about 3 hours. I have been put on bisoprolol furmarate 5mg once a day. I have had the echocardiogram and no issues with heart, but had 4 more episodes of atrial fibrillation rhythms. All returned on their own to sinus rhythm.

just looking for some advice as the cardiologist doesn’t seem over concerned.

Is the pancreatic linked to the atrial fibrillation.

Sorry to hear what a horrendous time you’ve been through. Welcome to the forum and hope you’ll find it as informative and useful as I have this past year.

I don’t know about a specific pancreatic link to AF, but infections generally can be a trigger for AF. Your cardiologist is right in one respect -AF doesn’t kill you. However the symptoms can be scary and life changing so make sure you get to know as much about the condition as you can and also what treatment options might be available to you. If possible get to see an EP (electrophysiologist) - a cardiologist dealing specifically with arrhythmias and the heart’s wiring system. You may want to consider paying privately for a consultation - it’s the only way I could get all my questions answered thoroughly.

Wishing you NSR into the new year and beyond.
