Atrial Flutter with node ablation

Can you get atrial flutter after have your node ablated? as Ive just had my pacemaker check up and Ive been told that I had periods last year, 15% of the time..that my my upper chambers were beating too quickly

Hi. Did they say that your pacemaker corrected the flutter so it did not actually affect you? Some thing that I recently found out what is that the pacemaker does not stop the feeling of flutter or a fib, but neither one of them actually affects the beating of your heart if that makes sense to you. That was the point of the AV node. I had been under the impression I would no longer fill those things but recently my pacemaker heart rate was dropped to 60 and wow just like the old days almost although my heart rate stayed as it should. It only lasted a week I guess my body had to get used to being dropped to the 60 heart rate . I have only had my pacemaker since the end of February, so they have been going slowly as my heart rate was average 150 for over a year.

not knowing what they told you I think you should talk to your doctor about what they said and ask him. I would hope they would’ve picked up on that in less than a year. At the very least when I had a loop recorder, it was a monthly report.

I was told we will always have those, but they no longer affect the heart because the AV node stopped that and the pacemaker controls it now you don’t mention suffering at all from either during the past year

hi, most of the time I didnt notice, but I noticed ,Im short of breath alot of the time and a few times it felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest with the palapatations.. just waiting to hear from the consultant

thank you. Once or twice I thought I had felt a thump. I was having some issues, so actually went to see my EP about everything. I had an appointment the following week so he just changed it for me. I was very surprised when he told me I would feel flutter and a fib when I questioned about a fib. It was very matter-of-fact, but not to me I had not heard this before. I am sure of it. I guess I thought he magically would make everything disappear. For the most part he did I feel pretty normal these days compared to up until February 26 the day before they put my pacemaker to work. I don’t understand why they don’t realize we still feel it at least warn us that it’s OK if we feel it. Yes I was also getting palpitations I just did not know what to think and I kept putting off calling because I knew I had an appointment coming up and my heart rate was good .

The first week after they changed my heart rate to 60 I was about to call and ask them to put me back to 70 because flutter etc. was driving me crazy. I had quite a bit along with palpitations. I was tired of it. Then it was as if I turned another corner, and two days ago I realized they had stopped.

better for you to check with the doctor just like it was for me. I had explained to his nurse and to him before that if we don’t know it’s normal and OK. It is a scary thing for us. He is a great communicator to appoint but surgeons are different people lol. They talk more like a textbook than a person at times. It doesn’t mean they are bad they are just different. I adore my doctor. I do not see him again now until December. He actually told me how perfect everything is in me right now. He said doctors want to see patients with an EKG like mine and the same about my echo I had just recently had and it was an extensive one. Back in December I really thought or hoped I would die. WOW I want everyone to realize how much hope there is out there. I always pull myself up when I fall down. This was the first time I didn’t want to get up again I’m glad I did and so thankful for my doctor.

please let us know how are you do I’m hoping you have things turn out like I seem to be having so far

I had Pace and Ablate last year and suffered the same symptoms as you when they changed the PM to work with me. I felt really bad for about a week but gradually my brain adjusted to the new control in my heart and I am fine now. Free from awful AF symptoms and off all medications except for anticoagulation and BP medication. Would recommend this treatment to anybody for AF.😍

Hi, Ive had mine around 5 years, and had it tweeked a few times, but this time he didnt think tweeking it would do anything

I agree
