Can Anyone Help?

SilverliningsForNow profile image

I’m currently abroad and have ‘spanish tummy’. Anyone know of any reason I can’t take Imodium or Dioralyte with Flecainide/Bisoprolol or Apixaban?

my husband is a pharmacist and there is no reason whatsoever why you can’t take it. I take Them if I need to and I’m on all of those meds. Hope you feel better.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but my kids have a stomach bug at the moment and I am worried that if I go down with it , I won’t be able to keep my Bisoprolol and Rivaroxiban down. I have SVT (230bpm during an episode ).

What do you do in this situation? Any advice/experience welcomed.

Hubby says nothing you can do, don’t repeat your dose until it’s next due as there will have been some absorption unless sick within minutes of taking them.

Hi

Sounds like you should try CCB Diltiazem 120mg AM. It works within 2 hours. Some use it as PIP.

It controlled me. With 2.5 Bisoprolol at night.

Speak to the prescribing doctor and/or your pharmacist for specific instructions per specfic event. If you start a new thread, you will get more responses.

There is definitely a drugs interaction site, just Google it, I've often used one from Ireland. I just type in.....drug interactions flecainide and magnesium....and up several options will come

You can put your meds in and save them, then enter a drug whose interaction you'd like to check.BNF is also free on line and you can download the app, but it's not as detailed I find.

I take Apixaban, Flecainide and Nebivolol and use Dioralyte if needed, without problems. Imodium I would only use if advised to by a medic - not because of interaction but sometimes it's better to let the nasty stuff out. Hope you feel better soon.

Hi

You will need to watch your BP as with that your BP could drop.

Not sure your answer but

plain white rice in salted water and cooked rice add glucose best

for getting over it.

Stop any diuretic.

Also coke gone flat.

Given info in Egypt by chemist with tummy problems. Beware the sulphur med gave me a rash in wheels! Hadto stop that as I am allergic to sulphur.

Silverlining, As a retired nurse the advice I would give for diarrhea etc, is no meds to stop it. You need plenty of liquids to stay hydrated. Drink only safe bottled water. Land diet, bicarbonate crackers, weak tea w/ sugar so you don’t faint. There is ‘poison’ I your system that needs to get out. Drugs to stop this will hurt, not help! Get rest till resolved. Hope that makes sense.

Thank you for taking the time to write this. It is very sound advice ❤️
