Has anyone experienced blood in their urine whilst on Apixaban? If so what was the treatment?

Hello Gertsen, this is something which needs to be checked by your Doctor as soon as possible. Anticoagulants do not normally cause a bleed, but should one occur, they are likely to make the bleed last longer than it otherwise would. Blood in urine can be caused by a variety of different reasons, urinary infection or a ruptured blood vessel of which there are thousands in and around the area but it could also be something more serious so please see your doctor as soon as you can.

Hello Gertsen, please don’t second guess. Have it checked out. As I had blood in urine, no other symptoms. It turned out to be bladder cancer. Very treatable.

Thank you I will ring first thing Tuesday when they open. How did they treat it?

They removed the tumour on the bladder, in my case 4 times if I remember correctly. Now I go for check ups every three months. As I said very treatable. Good luck, probably nothing to worry about.

So sorry to hear that, but at least you got it sorted straightaway. It is treatable as they probably have told you. And I am sure they will keep a close eye on you. Not very dignified but hey ho. Take care and chin up. Sending lots of hugs your way. 🤗🤗💕

I had strawberry-coloured urine whilst on warfarin, it was a urine infection which cleared up very quickly after a course of antibiotics. Being on an anticoagulant can have hidden blessings; any sort of infection or more serious issue can show up earlier, so do get it checked out.

I've not heard of this as a risk factor. As others have said ring GP . Needs checking. Hope it's nothing to worry about.
