Got a text from surgery this morning need to repeat blood tests in a month. Of course I had to go straight to test results and my Alkaline phosphatase is out of normal range. This is a liver enzymes It MAY indicate a variety of not very nice stuff. I feel fine. Just need a don't panic Mr Mannering response. It can be to do with bones too. Hey ho.
Sometimes I wish I'd not been a nurse!!!

Thank you for your wise words. So true. Having now looked back I discover I didn't have Liver Function tests before starting Apixaban just renal function.
I remember urging our children to become blood donors when they turned 18 and our daughter was turned down and through the post came a technical analysis which was numerical and incomprehensible and gave me the impression she had rampant leukaemia. A GP appointment revealed mild anaemia.
Just a 'me too'. I was a donor for many years (never quite reached 50 donations though) and then one day they said NO and sent me to my doctor. I have a B12 deficiency problem that appears to be genetic, and continued donating for years after being put on 3 monthly injections. I can't donate now due to the AF and Apixaban, but I always thought it was both worthwhile and a good regular health check
Yes, I agree. It's not a hugely time consuming thing to do and is of enormous benefit - and a personal health check too. My mother was a donor and suggested I should do it. Like you I was a regular donor until I became ineligible. I got a little badge after something like 14 donations. My blood group is not common and has useful plasma, free of various antibodies.
