Post Ablation Check Up

It’s three months since my 3rd ablation and, touch wood, I think I’m still in NSR. I’ve had to chase up my post op consultation and have now been scheduled for a telephone review. Perhaps optimistically I was expecting a BP check and ECG as part of the consultation but that’s going to be difficult over the phone. I would be interested to know what other people have recently had with their post ablation check up. Thanks

My GP's surgery can do ECG's and if I ask will send a copy to my EP. Just an idea, as I too think it's important your EP see the results of one for you.

Thanks for the suggestion, much appreciated. I’ll get into my GP

It's three months since my ablation and I will be having a six month check-up. That's all.

I can check my BP on my monitor and do an ECG on my watch. I don't really bother much now as I feel normal.

Thanks Physalis, my wife is thinking about getting me a monitor for Xmas.

Ditto to Jean’s post - GP can take & send results to your specialist or if you monitor your own - email your own results in. That’s what I have done & specialist actually now asks for home readings.

Thanks. Looks like GP or self monitoring is the way forward

Hopefully, if you stay in NSR, you won't really need one!

tomorrow it will be 3 months since my ablation and haven't heard anything about my review either; maybe I should chase mine up too. I also hadn't thought of going to my GP for BP and ECG check so will look into that too. I do find it interesting that my GP has seen me twice recently, as has the nurse for blood tests and flu jab yet we can't seem to get an appointment anywhere else!

It may just be that they are minimising contact and telephone assessments are the way forward to minimise risk all round. That’s understandable but sometime the “inefficiencies” are less so. Definitely worth chasing your appointment up. Good luck

I have just had a call from my GP surgery to arrange my ECG, what a coincidence that is!! It is arranged for12th November, so I will wait until that is done before I contact my EP re my review. Hopefully they will be efficient too and I won't need to chase them!

That is good news. Hope it goes well

I’m in the same position as you, also chased the post op review, and have received a telephone consult date for next month. Not sure why NHS are not actively arranging these reviews!! This was my second ablation - after first ablation, I had very quick notification and consult 3 months on the dot🤔. Possibly virus disruption kicking in!

Yes, maybe. I rang the hospital yesterday and they at least said the appointment would be with the doctor who did the ablation and that he would decide if I needed assessments ECG and BP. Hope your review goes well.
