I've never had to wait 6 months for follow up Last ablation 2021 I had 3 month follow up. Who knows what's going on these days. I would give EP secretary a call.
Three months and then twelve months I was told and on the letter to my GP it says will be with the arrhythmia nurses. I also have contact with those nurses pre and post ablation and they are excellent. They can take any queries to the EPs they work with. Also the EP secretary has been approachable and helpful.
Hi I expected a 3 month follow up after the 'blanking' period. It was actually 6 months. My EP had told me to continue with all meds until I saw him,as he preferred to really try to retrain the heart. So I wouldn't worry too much ,keep taking the tablets and look out for your appointment.
I waited 6 months after the first and 9 after the second. But I did have an excellent Arrythmia Nurse and I think QEH Birmingham help management in-between the procedure and 1st follow up that way.
Had my ablation December 2023. I have a follow up telephone appointment scheduled for March 2024. I think 3 months seems to be the norm. I would chase up with arythmia nurses.
So far so good, although had a 14 hour AF episode exactly 2 weeks post procedure. Slightly disheartened, although arythmia nurses were very reassuring so I'm pretty relaxed. Still taking things easy and not pushing myself too hard. 20 minute walks and light duties. How about you?
Well you’re not on your own - 1st 5 or 6 days - perfect and felt great, then a few very minor blips but then 160bpm and didn’t go down for a few days (never had this before and always self terminated), A&E Xmas day and IV beta blocker brought straight down, but didn’t last and by Xmas night back up again - lasted a few more days then stopped, but then HR went down to 38 so hopped on running machine and up to 80 - great then for a few days and up to 150 again but gone down again on its own now - Also spoke to Arrhythmia team and advised typical inflammation response so pretty sure will settle down once inflammation dies down - definitely an interesting couple of weeks 😂 - don’t think I’m the most patient person on the planet but keeping positive and know it’s gonna take a bit of time
I had my ablation beginning of November 23 and my follow up is the end of July! So 8 months for me. When I queried this the secretary said my EP is very busy and this is the earliest appointment they can give me.
However I do have a great team at St Thomas’ who respond very promptly if I have a concern or question. So I feel well supported if I need advice.
I had my ablation in September, at Glenfield hospital in Leicester. I was told I’d get a follow up appointment in 3 months, which was Dec 19th, but I’ve have heard nothing. I suppose it’s all these Doctors strikes. Everyone’s appointments have been delayed. I know the Junior Drs are under- paid and overworked, but striking like this, only affects the people they are supposed to be helping and they will never get a 35% pay-rise. All the other Doctors are having to cover for them, so they can’t conduct the clinics or do scheduled operations, while the Junior Drs are striking. Let’s hope the Unions will get round the negotiating table and sort this out pretty quickly.
I had my ablation in August 2023 at Maidstone Hospital. EP said all successful and gave me letter to take home and told me to stop all meds (Diltiazem 300mg daily and 100mg Flecainide PIP) apart from Rivaroxaban. Told me he would follow-up with me in 3 months when would discuss whether I needed any ongoing BP med. Unfortunately, I had an episode of AF the day after the ablation (I wasn't surprised because I had all the normal triggers apart from the trauma of the ablation itself) and when I contacted the arrythmia nurses, they told me not to worry but spoke to the consultant who said he was happy for me to go back on the Diltiazem but to avoid the Flecainide if possible. At about 12 weeks, I had a 24hr Holter ECG monitor and the results of this were fine. I now have a follow-up appointment on 17 January with the arrhythmia nurses preceded by an ECG despite the fact that my EP said he would see me personally at follow up. I have also had 2 brief AF episodes in October and early December. As the others suggest, contact the EP's secretary or the arrhythmia nurses if you have a number. Good luck
I had an ablation in September 2022. Still not had a review. Still on bisoprolol, flecanaide and apixiban. Could ring but touch wood. Things working ok.
