Out of the hospital

Out of the hospital having gone in this last Sunday for heart pain. Blood tests galore and an angiogram this morning. Off the Eliquis Monday and Tuesday so I stayed in the hospital. Tests all negative. Released around noon today. A couple times I forgot to take a dose of the Eliquis at home and felt better. No aches and pains no chest pains, ringing in my ears much less, almost no tingling in my legs. Brain fog left. No constipation. No eye pain. No bone pain. Then I'd see the pill I forgot to take. 😒. Yesterday my cardio Dr (and I use that term lightly for him, he'd make a better cartel pill pusher) scheduled the angiogram so I did get to talk to him SOME. Asked him if he ever checked for vagus nerve dysfunction. No he says, we don't really deal with any of that. So that was that. And he was gone. So fast all I felt was the breeze he left behind. He didn't do the angiogram. A different Dr in his group did it. Took longer to set up for it than the test. They went through a vein in my arm instead of the groin. I couldn't see the screen as it was being done. One of the techs removed my mask for some reason and put it back on so I couldn't see much. They put warm blankets around me and plastic that covered my body and my hands and wrists were put out through holes in the plastic as they had the I vs in my wrists. Plus they gave me 50 milligrams of Benadryl to keep me relaxed. A little too much for me.

And as I say it was negative. That's wonderful. But it didn't solve the problem of why I'm having heart pain. Didn't have much while off it and I know I've gotten it sometimes because of anxiety and stress. And I was getting some pain after I was off it that couple days but I was and still am sad about my sweet neighbor who is in the hospital and failing. I have doubts he may not make it. I blame some of his demise on the meds he's taken the last few years on these terrible blood thinners and other heart meds. He's had some of the same side effects as me..but I never sat and talked to him about it because he and his wife love their cardiologist but what I see is just another pill pusher. I really believe these meds were slowly killing my friend. At this posting I have not heard how he is. This morning Liz sent me a text and said he made it through the night last night. He's on oxygen. Later when I talked to Liz, Don's heart was only at 25%. And his kidneys were worse. He was supposed to have dialysed earlier this afternoon and I texted Liz to see if he did but haven't heard back. I'm not going to call her. I may not get good news. Liz had texted me yesterday about the angiogram and she told Don and he held up his rosary meaning he was praying for me as I was and still am for him. He had her text me a pic of him "in his Halloween costume" referring to the oxygen mask he was wearing. He loves to joke and sick as he is, he's still got his humour. It's 9:30 pm here, Wed night and I don't know if he's still here. His two daughters and his son came from Wisconsin to be with him. He has a wonderful family. I won't bother any of them tonight and tomorrow is another day. Tonight I will pray that Don made it through another night and pray for a miracle that being on the dialysis machine made him better. I'm going to turn in now soon as I take my poison.

To everyone who posted well wishes to me, THANK YOU, and if you have someone close in your lives, spouse, sibling, cousin, whatever, let them know how much you care for them. We are all here for just the blink of an eye.........😔

I agree with you totally regards the poison! Sorry to hear your lovely neighbour is so poorly. Did your angiogram rule out angina? Hope you soon feel better. Jean x

Thank you for thinking of my friend. Just got a text from his wife. He's back on dialysis this morning. Still on oxygen. Time will tell. Angiogram was negative and all blood tests which proves to me, that it's the medicine. I wish I could do better on the meds. But my body doesn't like them. And as I said in my other posts it runs in my immediate family. My late dad and my two siblings are the same way. Pharma drugs for us might as well be cyanide. So I have to decide to try and keep taking it or try the natural. It's six of one, half dozen of the other. And Drs don't care anymore long as they can get paid. Cardio Dr was supposed to come see me after my angiogram.( A different Dr in the same group of Drs did the angio. Not my cardio Dr). Nurse said Dr forgot. Lol. He was the one who scheduled it. Just shows me how important his patients are to him. Not. In fact my nurse the morning of the angio didn't even know I was supposed to have it done. He had to call down to the catherizatin dept. to confirm. geez.

So sorry about your friend, you will be feeling low and still recovering from the procedure and the drugs so do take care and go well.

I am very against taking unnecessary drugs, however, I do think the anticoagulants are very necessary for us AFers and I couldn’t live without the other 2 but overprescribing is a huge problem I think, especially in the US.

Sending Cyber hugs X

Thank you CDreamer. I'm not feeling too great yet. 3 drugs in one IV and the other in the other arm for the contrast to do the angio. You can read post above to Jean. Over prescribing is a huge problem in the USA. I'm glad I said no to amoridane when I was having problems with the metoprolol( that I had to stop) or I don't think I'd be sending these posts. Amoridane is really dangerous. And yet it's still prescribed. We all really need to know what the side effects of these meds are and if the Drs don't find out then we have to do it ourselves. It really makes me feel healthcare has regressed instead of progress. 😒😡

Sorry you and your friends are having a tough time. Perhaps a change of doctor is in order.

I'm in the USA. The insurance I can afford limits me to see other drs. Most of them only know how to push pills. It seems to bethat way here no matter what insurance you have because the insurance companies here have taken over. It's all about money. Not the patient. My friends have great insurance. But yet their doctors seem to only know pills and more pills. It's sad.

I don't know what to say. I know how it is out there my Daughter in laws Mum had an operation similar to one I had some years ago now and she paid more in her co-pay than I did to have the whole operation done privately here. My daughter in law's, sister in law was bankrupted when her breast cancer treatment gave her severe side effects which put her in hospital for months and months and now cannot get insurance. As she is a Hospital Doctor herself I am hoping there is some way she can get care when she needs it but it is such difficult thing especially if you are ill to sort out all the nonsense and keep yourself as well as you can be. I do worry about my family out there sometimes.

Keep safe and as well as you can be.

Yes it's terrible how some end up. When that happens here in the USA it's called the death panels. You are no longer a viable or productive person so you just die. I can't believe healthcare has become so uncaring of people. It's like in a factory. If a defective product comes down the conveyor belt it's shoved off. With no thought of whether it can be fixed or not. Just picked up and put in the trash. Just like us humans. And to think she is a Dr herself and in that predicament is just so disheartening. I will send prayers her way that somehow something works out.

Thank you for your kindness. I'm trying. Prayers for you and your family too.

Hi, I have had two negative angiograms and still get pain, it’s been diagnosed as coronary artery spasm or micro vascular angina, take your pick!

People from the USA who are rude about our system should read your comments. I guess the system there is ok until it isn’t, as you say. What happens to people who have no insurance I wonder?

Anyway hope you and your friend get better soon, I have a very ill friend and it preys on your mind 💜

They said they found no reason for my pain. But it is a side effect of the Eliquis and Xarelto and I imagine a few others. The couple days I was off the Eliquis for my angiogram I felt better. No body aches and pains. Some of the side effects I have went away. And the heart pain too. Back on the Eliquis last night and again this morning and I am starting to feel some heart pain again. Alas the Drs don't listen and/or don't believe us. So it's a dilemma. My partner says he also has that pain from time to time. But his Drs at the VA clinic he goes to don't believe what tell them either........

People here who have no insurance sometimes go to the emergency room at the hospitals. If it's a teaching hospital they just write it off. But those people end up with pretty minimal treatment most of the time. It's a fact that there have been illegal immigrants who live in the USA who have gotten better treatment than our legal citizens. And of course being illegal they have no insurance. I know they are human beings too but it isn't right for them to get better treatment than our legal citizens. The medical system here is so politically driven and the big rich corporations who have stock in medicine tend to corrupt it too, that a person wonders if there will ever be a time again when Drs actually care about their patients and don't have to have the insurance companies telling them what they can and can't do. It's mind boggling. I tell everyone to read about how medical insurance came to be and what it's become. John Gordon Steele wrote an essay titled "A Short History of American Insurance" (or something close to that) and he discusses how insurance evolved into the monster it is today. It started out as a good thing until some one came along and thought it would be a good way to make a lot of money. And boy insurance companies here are rolling in the dough. What insurance you have is what you can afford. The better insurance you can afford the better the care you can get because you can get the better Drs. But then even the better Drs are still ruled by the insurance companies. It's just insane.

Yes I hope to feel at least some better. But I still fight the side effects.

I do hope your friend gets better too. Yes it does prey on the mind. Sending prayers your way.
