I was just wondering what is the dosage that most people here take for Potassium where you can see a significant improvement in the ectopics frequency? I just received my Amazon order - Potassium Citrate 99 mg and I'm looking forward to see how it will improve my problem..

Potassium for Ectopics
Please talk to your doctor, Potassium is a dangerous mineral to mess around without medical supervision.
And what makes you think you need Potassium? Magnesium certainly can help and many on this forum take magnesium supplements for ectopics with varying degrees of success but not Potassium and I have never seen or read of it being helpful for ectopics.
I will be interested in the thoughts and experiences of others.
Potassium metabolism is finely balanced in us all, so I wouldn't, myself, be keen to use extra unless my doctor advised it. I would think it is safe to take in low doses, or it wouldn't be on general sale, but I don’t see how it can do anything useful, as there's so much of it available in our daily diet. In excess, it can, I gather, affect the kidneys so it would be best to check with your GP before taking it.

Have you had your potassium level tested ? If low then better to raise levels with foods rather than supplements which could easily push your level to high. My husband had raised potassium, not through supplementing, and it was an emergency situation needing hospital treatment.
As per above. My potassium level was tested and a little on the high side and doctor warned me. Don’t take unless you have had a blood test to determine levels.
I just eat a banana every morning
Thank you all. My potassium was borderline low last they checked it in January. I have a friend who takes it and claims her AFib is much better and thought i'd give it a try. I wanted to get it tested but with the current situation I don't want to get exposed if not necessary. My ectopics got worse though inspite of taking Magnesium citrate 400 mg every day plus bisoprolol 5 mg.. at my wit ends with this
l started taking Furosemide (a diuretic ) few month ago + after a good few days of it got half a days worth of nonstop atreal+ Ventricular ectopics. I checked on furosemides info sheet + it can lower pottassium levels so I took Some low dose over the counter potassium Supplements that appeared to help. specialist team + GP are aware + have cautioned about the risk of taking too much. I now only take it if My ectopics appear to be increasing + there is no other likely cause - This tends to workout as once or
twice per week - my pottassium levels were within normal range When measured .
The above is not very scientific!! I do take magnesium supplants daily that seem to help with ectopics but the Very long running atrial ectopics Were a bit odd + very worrying so I was glad that the pottassium appeared to do the trick. I would guess eating Bananas or other high
pottassium foods may be a better course of action if you can take the Calories !
Thank you for sharing your experience.. I am thinking to eat high potassium foods now and see if I notice the difference.. unfortunately I dont like bananas or coconut water.. almonds yes.. from what I understand potassium levels can fluctuate a lot based on the food intake even during the day.. so that means its hard to keep it balanced..
Best of luck with it. I think there will be vegetables containing pottassium so it is probably easier than either of us think.
I take Telmisarton for blood pressure and Potassium is the one thing they warn against.
Queried my Doctor and she was of the opinion that providing any potassium supplement was only in the mcg. units not mg. I was safe to take them.
I try not to take any Potassium or Calcium ( Kidney stones ) in element form.
In my limited experience I would favour trying a different form of Magnesium .
