Anyone else on Edoxaban that has had to have minor surgery? How many days before the operation did you have to stop taking it? Having been on Warfarin for 7 years, this is a bit of a newie to me!
Thanks.

I think you need to speak to the surgeon about that. When I had a BCC removed a couple of years ago I didn't stop warfarin at all. Just had to make sure INR was below 3 gthe morning of surgery.
Take a look at my reply to nemises2 a couple of posts before yours (Changing from Warfarin) and follow the instructions for scenario Edoxaban and you will find advice from NICE on dental and surgery. Also follow BobD’s advice and speak to the hospital.....
There is guidance on NICE website and the times varies depending on the category of surgery.
Hi WB - really hope you are well. Got to agree with the others. I’m on Apixaban and have had various procedures including hernia repair, dentistry, biopsy etc all done at St Mary’s. Your surgeon has a duty to advise you in advance and if they’re in any doubt should consult your cardiologist. All the very best. Sorry to be so tardy - only just found your last PM!
Thanks KJ. I spoke to Mark Connaughton in the end and discussed risks. The op was done at QAH and, with his info as back up, I insisted on Clexane injections to tide me over until I can start edoxaban again
I stoped 2 days Xarelto before an abdominal hysterectomy. Didnt bridge
Was given shots for 5 days and then back to X
I take Apixaban and as it is only a short half life, I was told by my EP to only miss the dose on the morning of the procedure. That was last year for Pacemaker revision. I was given a shot and commenced taking Apixaban that evening. My dentist didn’t require me to stop at all.
As Bob says - ask the person performing the procedure or telephone your cardiologist.
I have been given different timings for different procedures/surgery ranging from 24 hours to 36 hours so best to speak to your surgical team and ask what they advise.
I'm on Edoxaban and had a back double molar removed on Wednesday. My dentist just asked me to not to take it on the morning of the extraction. She stitched the wound to help it close and I was given extra wadding to use but not had any problems and all is OK.
As others have said your surgical team should give you instructions . HTH
Like Bob said, you need to discuss with your surgeon, I had to stop edoxaban 2 days before my gallbladder removal, but did not stop at all for my colonoscopy with some biopsies taken.
Have also had a tooth extracted without stopping
Think the tooth removal may come next...when I can get an appointment...and the the resetting my crown which fell off 3 weeks in to Lockdown!!!
