I have multiple co morbities including AF and my medical history is quite lengthy although I am reasonable well save for breathlessness. The last time I sought travel insurance was for a five day visit to Belgium and it cost me £200 . I got insurance through All Clear but that was having been refused cover by three other insurers. I am hoping to go to France later this year for a week in Lille (nice and close to UK) but keep putting it off because of the insurance problem.

for the remainder of this year you will still be covered by your EHIC card?

The Post Office. I have to declare Afib and breast cancer amongst other things and they will cover me. £44, economy, £46, standard, £66 gold for a one off trip Europe. I was going standard as it met my needs. Don’t know for rest of world or annual insurance. I was just grateful to having someone willing to insure at what I feel is a good price.

Hi Frances may I ask if you had Chemo, Herceptin and Zometa for your breast cancer. I am convinced this lot, then major reconstructive surgery set of my AF, there is a statistically higher incidence in breast cancer patients

Of course you can. No chemo as caught early and tumour small. Had radiotherapy and on hormone therapy (Anastrazole) for 5 years. I have had Afib for 15 years and BC diagnosed August 2017 so it wasn’t a trigger for me. x

Like Frances123 I've had breast cancer caught early no chemo. R/T and tamoxifen but my AF started 6 years before cancer

The post office do not cover private clinics and hospitals just basic health care. This i found out last year when in Majorica when i had a episode of af. It cost me over £1000 so read the small print.

An expensive way to find out sadly but hope you were ok. I go to Holland and there (at the moment) I would only have to pay the same as a Dutch person (with an EHIC). They are subsidised but have to pay a percentage like you do here for NHS dentists.

Friday I will be keeping a beady eye as to how it will effect me though. X

Hi Deezy, have you tried Paying too much .com

I find phoning is more satisfying than trying to do it on line

We have an annual worldwide policy with SAGA. We go away a lot, so having the annual policy (with whoever) works out well. My AF and a few other things are covered.

Hi, I have used ‘Insuratrip’ for a couple of years now. No one is cheap that’s for sure. AF, 73 years old, going away for over 60 days, travelling worldwide including Caribbean, USA, annual cover, has worked out this year at about £500, yes expensive but not as high as some. Finding travel insurance really is up there with car insurance for being the most boring hobby!! Good luck.

That's bargain. If I remember correctly, I was quoted at least $1,500 Canadian dollars from Pacific Blue Cross in western Canada, and that was for only two weeks.

I travel all year long (every month) to mutilple destinations worldwide

For me Aviva works, a UK based company where you can call and speak to someone

if you need too,

Lv are worth checking out too

Yes travel insurance is expensive but if you need urgent medical help and need to be repatriated

It then looks cheap

tip : don’t grow old or get sick that’s the only way to get cheap travel insurance !

Insure and Go. May not be the cheapest but should be reasonable and have good service. Medical screening is straightforward

Travelinsurance4medical is the best I've found. They're also great to deal with. They were much cheaper than anyone else I could find for annual travel insurance.

Hi there

I find opening a Nationwide Flexiplus account the best way to get worldwide cover, including extreme sports (for my hubby that is, not me).

The account costs £13.00 per month and covers so many things other than just trave., such as road side assistance, loss of mobile phone etc.

I declare my Afib and pay £100 a year top up for that.

So both of us are totally covered for everything anywhere in the world, including the USA which is usually extortionately expensive.

We have a Nationwide Flexplus account too, and pay about £230 extra but that covers us for trips of up to 90 days, no limit on the number of trips, me with my AFib and high blood pressure, and my husband on his motorbike travelling on dirt tracks. And we use their credit card too, no fees abroad.

Allclear I can vouch for, been reasonable last couple of years price wise and most important they paid out when I had to claim last year while abroad and went into flutter. Highly recommended.

I used insurancechoice.co.uk/ in the past and couldn't fault them, however just looking now it appears their travel insurance is now provided by PayingTooMuch.com mentioned earlier.

I. As long you are under 74 you can join the Women's Institute and join their group insurance scheme. My understanding is that as long as you doctor says you are fit to go they will cover you.

I went to New Zealand last April for a month and skiing in the January and obviously riding my Harley both in the UK and in Europe. My broker notified the insurers I had Afib and the policy only went up by about £38 on a policy that covers me, my wife and one of my daughters...not too bad I thought

I have used Staysure before who covered me for all my heart, lung and blood issues. More recently I have used my bank who provided the same cover and cut my premium in half.
