Good afternoon everybody. Can anyone recommend a good travel insurance company that doesn't cost the earth!!! I have AF and high blood pressure which I have been insured for in the past. However, I have recently been diagnosed with a vascular problem in my leg which is currently under investigation and I am sure will not be completely resolved before I go to Menorca for a week at the end of May. Any recommendations will be gratefully received. Thank you. I am female aged 75.

Few insurance companies will cover you for any pre-existing conditions which are under investigation or for which you are having tests. If you use the search box (yop right) this is a common question with lots of answers .

probably gonna be more expensive than the holiday.....could you go a bit later when your situation is more stable?

Eurotunnel travel insurance are excellent. And I’m a type 1 diabetic and used them for work travel ins under £50 for 12 months insurance.

I agree with BobD that while under investigation most companies won’t even insure. The one I use is AllClear. In fact they were the only one who would cover me fully I have AF, a leaky valve and pulmonary hypertension. It was expensive but they paid out with no problem when my husband had a claim last year. It’s worth looking at the BHF site as they have a list of travel insurers.

Read the small print and ensure that you can go to private hospitals and clinics as many only allow for public facilities. I found out the hard way and it cost me £1000.

I use Staysure but just the basic cover. Does not cover existing problems.

Seeing that I have had the existing problems for years I get the insurance to bring me home if I pop my clogs, have an accident etc. I rely on the E111 to get any medical help the same as the locals. the price of a comprehensive one for a 3month trip is far more than the total holiday cost. I am 79 going on 80 though and lots of insurers will not even consider me.

The premium was quite expensive but at least I could still go on holiday knowing that I was covered .Good luck .

I have used Holiday Safe for four years. I have had a stroke, AF and high blood pressure. Low premium but high excess which is ideal if you don’t claim. I made one claim as my travel companion had to cancel with a cancer diagnosis. Holiday Safe gave me full money back as it was not me who was claiming for a medical problem. I will stick with them at the moment as I was pleased with the outcome.
