We went with annual Europe cover for me and my wife with SAGA. Not cheap but I know they're good because my father-in-law was taken ill a couple of years ago in Teneriffe and all was handled properly.
We pay about £250 p.a. for the two of us. Worldwide and especially America/Canada cover is a lot more I think. We can go away a lot in that cover but each holiday mustn't be more than about 30 days, can't recall exactly.

If you have a Civil Service pension go for CSPA, £172 for a year's world wide travel discounting any pre-existing conditions and underwritten by AXA.
I have had good reports of AVANTI. 0800 201 4506.
The Mail on Sunday , 19/10/14, suggested a comparison site of 22 specialist companies Medical Travel Compared .co.uk. 0844 887 2105.
Beware discounting your AF on the policy. I imagined breaking a toe and them refusing to cover it by stating it had happened because of an AF episode! Insure and Go recently quoted me £197 for 7 days in the USA discounting AF. The 0844 telephone number to them cost 74p too. I wouldn't normally consider a trip to America but have no alternative as my son is getting married to an American lady. I have paid my £172 to the CSPA. And I'm planning to go whale watching out of Boston while I'm there!!
I use 'Holidaysafe' for a worldwide annual policy.
They do cover pre existing medical conditions and I used them after reading they are Which magazine recommended and winners of awards.

Hi, The ones I know are Good to Go , All Clear Travel and www, Holidaysafe.co.uk.
Try the AA. I got annual cover for £120. I think it helps if you have car recovery with them.
Insure and go, was best value for me
John lewis I have been told
I pay £400 with Avanti ,worldwide ,but I did have a stroke in 2013 . that was with another insurance co and I didn't have any medical issues up until that point . The thing is you never know how good they are until you have to claim ! I am still sorting out my claim , albeit only my personal expenses , but declare everything

Can I suggest you look into a Nationwide Flexplus current account. I have world wide insurance including USA and Caribbean, mobile phone cover, roadside assistance and 3% interest on balances of up to £2500, all for the cost of a monthly fee of £10. Check with the insurers direct ,arranged via Nationwide, that your condition will be covered. I declared a stent, Paroxysmal AF and ectopics and I had to pay an extra £80 each year ---well worth it ,I feel , when compared to Insurance companies.
