Hi All. Back to posting my journey 3 and half weeks post ablation. What a ride. I am writing this from a hospital bed which has been my home for the last 6 days. I guess i need to mention Zarelto. It would appear i developed an intestinal bleed probably due to this anticoagulant. I lost blood volume by half and suffered symptoms including extreme fatigue, breathlessness, migraines, dizziness near collapse.
Now after blood transfusions, iron infusions, and various investigations i am on the mend.
I just want to say to be so aware of your own body.post ablation. Advice given to me was to rest which is what i did but i knew there was more going on..

Sorry to read of your most unusual problem but so glad you are on the mend.
A stark reminder that although problems are rare after an ablation, they can happen but comforting to know that at least you are in the right place to get them quickly resolved. You won’t need us to remind you to take things easy, but now is the time to focus on making a successful recovery......every good wish.
Thank you for posting despite your situation. Very important patients listen to their body and to be regrettably assertive with the medics. Sending best wishes
Oh how horrible for you 😕 Thank you so much for letting us know about this -I do appreciate it.
Very glad to hear you’re on the mend now - hope you’re home soon. J x
PS If you don’t mind me asking (I wasn’t sure from your post)- is there a suggestion the bleed is connected in any way to having the ablation? (Or just because of the anticoagulant?)
An endoscopy and colonoscopy was done in hospital. Endoscopy did not show any damage to oesophagus from ablation. Zarelto apparently cause of lower intestinal bleed.
I had to make a choice because of my age and other factors which put me in a high risk4 for stroke. I either go back on Zarelto to help safeguard against clot formation and stroke and take a chance on another bleed. I chose Zarelto and closely monitor everything.
