Well after enduring a few years of the AF journey I have made the plunge to have the cryoablation procedure to try and stop AF in its tracks. Have been relatively ok on flecainade for the past 3 years but don’t want to be taking this drug for the rest of my life (49 years old at present) if at all possible.
Going to be a long few days until the 26th Feb 😩😩😩
There's lots to do in those days before an ablation! Shopping, putting easy meals in the freezer, doing things you won't be doing while you are putting your feet up afterwards ....
The apprehension and any doubts tend to evaporate slightly once you get there and into the system. There are many of us who have no regrets about taking what can seem like a bold step.
You have made a brave and sensible decision, I had a Cryoablation last September and I now feel 99% better with only the odd palpatation here and there so well worth the stress (which was not needed). You will be so glad you took this option but make sure you plan plenty of rest after the procedure 👍

I had a cryoablation two weeks ago tomorrow. Yesterday I walked into my local town and shopped on my own. I can honestly say I felt better than I have for a couple of years since my journey started. Even though it's July since my last severe episode ending in blue lights to A&E I feel so much better than in the last few months. Stronger, more energy, happier, less fatigue even this early on. I hope you have a great experience too good luck. But rest really well afterwards.
Which type of ablation are you having?
I had an AFIB PVI cryo ablation 29th January 2018. I have not had Afib since so far as i know. I have been off all drugs since the 15th May.
On earlier this week I did 2 peaks out of the Yorkshire Dales 3 peaks challenge, came home yesterday and went for a 6 mile run round Tatton Park in Cheshire to get rid of the stiffness in my legs. I am 58.
Best thing I ever did. I am 5 years + post ablation and feel great.
Remember not to expect too much too soon. It took 5 months for all bumps and palpitations to stop and almost a year before resting heart rate returned to normal.
And ... REST for first few weeks and gentle exercise for the next few months. Good luck 🍀

I am 3 weeks post ablation! It was the best decision I have ever made. If I had to do it all over again, I would do it without hesitation. Good luck, stay positive!❤️
