Magnesium

I've seen magnesium mentioned a lot on this site and was wondering which I should take. I believe there are 2 types but can't remember the names🙄 interestingly I have just read that omnaprazole lowers magnesium levels and am wondering if that contributes to my insomnia which is why I'm thinking of taking it

There are several commercially available magnesium supplements. Holland and Barret sell magnesium oxide which is the basic version but apparently not that well absorbed. Good reports here about Mg Taurate but there is also citrate and of course the magnesium body oils and creams. I occasionally use the cream for leg cramp especially if I am doing a long drive.

It is hard to overdose as you get the runs pretty quickly but I have been taking 250 mg a day of Mg oxide for years now.

Taurate works for me but it can be pricey. I use BioCare which is a bit less expensive than the one suggested by Dr Gupta, but on one of his later videos he acknowledges Taurate is costly and mentions alternatives...link below.

I have found Magnesium Glycinate 120 mg twice a day to be beneficial. Available from Amazon, by Pure encapsulation, and reasonably priced.

I read somewhere that taking omeprozole cancels any benefits that taking supplement magnesium brings. Does anybody have an opinion on this?
